It really has been a banner day on many levels. In my inbox today, I received this email:
    Hello,Thevina.

I'm zizi from China, and I am a big fan of Ron, like all the stories about him. When I came across your fanfic "Strife from the Furthest Prime", I found myself really fell in love with HARRY/RON ship, it's almost became my OTP in HarryPotter fandom. The desperation and heartbreaking is so delicious, crazy Harry is so delicious, and of course that tender, protective Bill is brilliant, what else should I do besides love this story?

And now I'm wondering that may I translate this story into Chinese in order to share with other Fans?

I didn't catch the Chinese ver. of it through internet, that's why I'm asking for your permission. And for sure I will have the author name, the original English link on the top, then give you the link where I post my translation, plus a copy of it if you would like to.

I'm so psyched! I've had one Tolkien story translated into German ("Antiphon to Light," found here). This is my third request; I'd suddenly had a flashback to some extended emails with a young Italian boy who really liked my Ron/something and was going to translate some stories, but then he vanished. I'm hoping this pans out!! :D :D

I'm at home, as my knight in armor, [livejournal.com profile] pghpatronus, has come down with the flu, so I'm not travelling to visit with him and [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins and [livejournal.com profile] koshweasley. We're all disappointed that we won't get to see each other, and I hope that PGH gets well soon. He's on some serious meds, and I'm in a funk.

So! This time of year is a good time to look back. I can't really begin to comprehend how incredibly painful, anger- and anxiety-ridden this year has been for me in RL, so instead, here's the listing of the stories I've written, the various new and old pairings and life experiences I explored through writing as an escape and/or written alternative to my own situations out in the world. Despite the very, very challenging year, I've written a lot that I'm proud of, and hope that you who are readers of my fic, have enjoyed at least one or two of my output from 2007.

fic listing, in chronological order )

The ones I'm most proud of? Probably the Ron/Dean Vermilion Hunger, Cerulean Thirst; Strange-Eyed Constellation (a rare trio if ever there was one!); Strife from the Furthest Prime, and Crown of Rope. Here's to an equally creative outpouring in 2008. For those of you who continue to read and enjoy my stories and let me know, my heartfelt thanks to you. To those who read my stories and lurk, thank you for that as well. And to my many betas, I so appreciate your insights and enthusiasm. With each story I hope that I'm honing my craft, and one of my planned intentions is to spread my wings a bit out beyond fanfic this next year. I'd hoped to do that in 2007, but it wasn't to be. Still, as I look back at what I did contribute to the Harry Potter fandom in 2007, I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Thank you all for bothering to take the time to read my often long-ish fics, and to let me know what you thought.

The reveal over at [livejournal.com profile] bestmates_xmas has gone up, so I'm free to post my H/R here. Enjoy!

Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 11,550
Genre: romance, erotica, humour, established relationship
Betas: [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a, [livejournal.com profile] auntee_mame and [livejournal.com profile] cim_halfling. Thank you!!!
Summary: A few days before Christmas, Ron is struck with a harmless, but thoroughly annoying curse. Figuring out who cast it takes Ron and Harry to Scotland, and Harry wonders: Why can't I just have a normal Christmas, just once? H/R, EWE, kilt!sex.
Author's Notes: Title, as it absolutely must have, comes from Robert Burns, from his poem "Poem on Pastoral Poetry" written in 1791. It's from the final stanza, and the sentiment reflects pretty accurately the atmosphere of this story:
[…] but that sweet spell
O' witchin love,
That charm that can the strongest quell,
The sternest move.

I have no idea where this rather cracktastic idea came from, but once I was given Abigail89 as my gift recipient and saw a shared interest in Scotland and kilts (and perhaps single malts as well), this story was breathed into life. DH-compliant, ignoring the epilogue.

On to part two
thrihyrne: Portland, OR (harry/ron forever by starrysummer)
At the end of July, my dear friend Callum James wrote me this in an email as a fic prompt/idea:
... is to write five linked drabbles of no more than 250 words each charting the developing relationship between Harry and Ron. The drabbles should be titled, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 refering to the ages of the characters in each drabble. At least two of the five should be rated NC-17. And here's the kicker... each drabble has to begin with the same line that the previous one ends with and the final line of the last drabble must be the same as the first line of the first. Also, there should be no need for a paragraph of explanation at the beginning... !

Well, I instead wrote 4 vignettes rather than 5, and they're longer than 250 words. The other requirements are still there, which made for interesting development along the way. So without further ado, here 'tis.

Title: This Submerged Sense of Wonder
Pairing: Ron/Harry
Ratings: PG to NC-17, depending
Word count: 5300
Summary: Ron and Harry at four points in their lives. Who can ever, really, explain the simple profundity of lifelong companionship?
A/N: bottomless gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins, [livejournal.com profile] cim_halfling and [livejournal.com profile] auntee_mame for their betas. Suggested by and written for Callum, inspiration and friend. Title from G.K. Chesterton. DH-compliant; ignores the Epilogue.

A very short fic for me, written for the Harry and Ron Deathly Hallows Slashy Epilogue Challenge.

Title: Eternal Summer Gilds Them Yet
Pairings: Harry/Ron, Dean/Luna, George/Lee; initial H/G and R/Hr
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1600
Summary: Reconstructing lives isn't nearly as orderly as rebuilding the world. EWE genre.
A/N: Boundless gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins for the aural beta. Title from Lord Byron, Don Juan, Canto iii, Stanza 86, 1. Maybe a bit cracktastic in narrative style, for me.

Title: Strange-Eyed Constellation
Pairing(s):
Past Fred/Seamus, Seamus/Dean, eventual Fred/Seamus/Dean, Ron/Harry
Rating: This chapter light R (language, innuendo, potentially disturbing imagery)
Summary: War can make strange bedfellows; peacetime allows kindred spirits to join together. Seamus discovers both, and in being true to the baffling desires of his heart, believes that love needn't come exclusively in pairs.
A/N: my thanks to [livejournal.com profile] auntee_mame for the written beta; exceeding gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins and [livejournal.com profile] callumjames for letting me read aloud and giving me insightful feedback while I write this; also for their enthusiasm over what's certainly a rare trio. The title comes from Thomas Hardy's poem "Drummer Hodge."
Chapter notes: Seamus' accident is directly inspired by a scene relatively early in the movie A Home at the End of the World (link has music, just so you're warned!)

This novella with pairings I've not really written before all started with a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] risiepookie. Many of you know that I'm drawn to threesomes, and this story explores that realm with its rather complex dynamics, especially considering the characters in this. Here's the summary and a few notes:

Title: Strange-Eyed Constellation
Pairing(s): Past Fred/Seamus, Seamus/Dean, eventual Fred/Seamus/Dean, Ron/Harry
Rating: Overall NC-17, though not each section will be so. I'll let you know.
Status: WIP; I'll be posting probably once a week; it's currently a little over 23K words. Crossposted to [livejournal.com profile] deamus.

This story has two very short vignette prologues, which are actually the kernels which prompted me to keep going. The first is this: The Test of the Heart is Trouble. The second, a very short, untitled vignette set a couple of months later in the story arc is here. I'd recommend starting there as otherwise the rest may seem rather odd. ;)

Rating: Barely R. Warnings for being sentimental, but you can't blame me for that. ;)

I'm actively engaging in the privilege of beta'ing a really well done WIP by [livejournal.com profile] auntee_mame, The Darkest Recesses of the Heart. I really do enjoy beta'ing for the most part, but I may perhaps be somewhat unintentionally frustrating in that while I definitely squee to the authors in person, especially when beta'ing, often I don't revisit their fics once they're out in public to voice my pleasure there. This story is a WIP, but I have no doubt that she'll finish it over time, if only to prevent me coming up there and demanding to know how it ends!! [livejournal.com profile] auntee_mame (formerly known as Kerryblaze) is a very solid writer, and this fic is no exception; it's plotty, has enough angst and realism to really appeal to me (not to mention the pairing), but one of my favorite aspects of it is the original characters she's crafted. I've been a sucker for original characters and them fitting seamlessly into canon fic since my very first fanfic story, ever, Boar and Steward, a Tolkien fic about a fictitious eight year old girl of Rohan. I wrote it not knowing that OCs were nearly always immediately regarded with apprehension, especially female ones. I suppose since mine was a young girl, it escaped the knee-jerk Mary Sue label. At any rate, in The Dark Recesses of the Heart there's a bevy of original characters and they're three-dimensional, as is the town in which nearly all of the story has taken place, a real town in the U.S.

So if you're a Harry/Ron fan, go off and read The Darkest Recesses of the Heart, currently at eleven chapters. It's been primarily gen so far, but she's starting to get into nearly-adult territory, which promises to be delicious and quite satisfying for the characters once it occurs. If it does! I don't know how it'll all pan out— another bonus to beta'ing something like this as she's writing it. I've never beta'ed a WIP before, it now occurs to me. Anyway, I recommend this story without reservation. If you enjoy it too, let her know!
thrihyrne: Portland, OR (harry/ron forever by starrysummer)
At the end of March I shouted out for four prompts for writing exercises, hoping for some unexpected pairings or new thoughts in general. Out of those, until today I'd only written one so far, but now I have a second. I'm incorporating both [livejournal.com profile] lena3's request for Harry/Ron and the prompt/ambiance of "Crash & Burn" by Savage Garden (lyrics are here), and writing my inaugural post over at [livejournal.com profile] bestmeatsawards, a PWP H/R community modded by my packmate [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins.

I'd had Grand Ideas of trying on a new writing style with this, giving myself permission to write something short so that I could try writing with shorter sentences, with one theme or image or ambiance for the whole fic, and a more pared-down style. In rereading it, I'm afraid that I didn't really get there with this. It still reads like something of mine and you'd know it. Ah well. There are a couple of nice turns of phrases, and it was like putting on a pair of comfy denims to write H/R again.

So! Short, adult, Warfic. Diaphanous hint of plot. Alert for potentially disturbing imagery of other characters depending on how vivid your own imagination is. Many adjectives.

Title: Dancing Kings
Rating: PG for m/m relations
A/N: A Trail of Persimmon universe. Link is to an adult fic.

"Stop yanking my chain! This is the green shirt, isn't it?"

A sheepish grin settled on Ron's lips. "Yeah. Sorry to be a git. C'mon, let's go."

Harry swatted Ron's arse before Apparating to the club where, four months prior, Ron had shocked Harry to his core by revealing his affections for him. He'd dropped hints everywhere, but Harry'd been incredibly thick and oblivious.

They danced in the sweaty crowd, gyrating to the throbbing music, never leaving each other's orbits of bumping hips and clutching hands.

"You're brilliant!" Ron yelled ebulliently.

"Happy Anniversary!" Harry shouted back before stealing a kiss.

My [livejournal.com profile] triatha_ron fic has been posted, and it's here. Since it's out of my usual realm, at least partially pairing-wise, the summary is below to let you know what it's about:

Title: Strife from the Furthest Prime
Prompt: Red
Rating: NC-17
Pairings/Characters: Bill/Ron, Ron/Harry
Warnings: Incest; AU (post-War); Angst
Length: 10,700
Summary: Qua cursum ventus: the course lies as the wind blows. In a post-apocalyptic, post-War world, Ron and Bill are survivors, hidden in the Burrow. When Harry unexpectedly appears, the winds of change prove devastating.

If you do read it, let me know what you think! It's a bit dark, psychologically bleak, and the characters' sanity may be relative and ambiguous. If you're on my flist and not into my adult HP fic, skip on by.

Title: Of Love Such Is the Fervent Heete
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Harry and Ron meet up for their annual post-War sojourn, but this year is quite different from the prior few, and it's not just because they've gone to Iceland.
Warnings: None
Word Count: 9,819
Disclaimer: the usual
Author's Note: My never ending gratitude to my several betas, [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins, risiepookie and [livejournal.com profile] matildabishop. Thank you for your insight and Britpicking and support as I wrote this. The title comes from a poem by John Lydgate, "Fabula duorum mercatorum."

The concept/plot device for this story came while driving in the car and hearing the song "Fever" by Peggy Lee.

I got totally inspired after visiting [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins and [livejournal.com profile] koshweasley last weekend. The last joint writing effort we did to cleanse our writerly palates from the last of our drabbles (unpublished: Dudley/Remus, augh) was to each put in our OTP into the now-famous Rubbermaid container. Wolfie had Harry/Ron, Kosh had Fred/George, and I had Ron/Draco. Kosh picked his own, Wolfie picked mine (squee!) and I picked his. We all sat for a couple of hours, actually, writing and talking until I had to pack up and leave. I finished my story last night, and here it is. It's fiction, of course, but many of the small detailed elements are reflective of their real lives. Mostly I hoped to capture the understated but heartwarmingly obvious affection and devotion that Wolfie and Kosh have for each other. They are so inspiring. This is for you two, luvs.

Given the subject heading, for those of you on my flist who don't read my HP slash, you'll want to skip this. Also, my apologies to those who are also H/R shippers as I'll be cross-posting somewhat.

Title: Quotidian Bliss
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Harry/Ron
Genre: rather PWP-ish; vignette
Wordcount: 2300
Summary: Ron and Harry enjoy a far-too-infrequent lazy Sunday morning.

A little over a week ago, I received an unsolicited email from a gentleman in England who'd found my Harry/Ron story 'Never Break the Chain' at RS.org and loved it. He also makes limited edition handcrafted books and booklets (link here). So he wrote both to tell me how much he loved the story (always a great thing to receive in one's mailbox), but also that he used to write a little bit, but mostly he wanted my permission for him to handcraft his own copy of my story for his rereading pleasure. And could he make me one while he was at it?

::thuds::

So, here's a wee picture he sent to me, having nearly finished both copies. He's so adorable; he even asked if he could send both copies and ask me to sign one to send back. I wonder who else's erotica he likes. Of course I sent him the URL to all of my adult HP fic. We've even been discussing him putting together one of my longer stories in exchange for fic. In doing a wee bit of other research, he appears to be a slash-writing, gay-erotica-enjoying Virgo. There seem to be a lot of those in my life.

In other cool news: I've taken two carloads of stuff to my new apartment, and this evening I spent a good hour and a half cleaning nothing but the bathroom and kitchen. It looks pretty gosh-darn clean. I'll be moving in some furniture on Saturday; today during my hyper-productive lunch hour I got the power and water transferred over to me and those accounts set up. Woot!

Hope that all of you are doing well!

Title: A Trail of Persimmon
Rating: NC-17
Challenge: Post-War, 09. Ron's family reacts badly when he comes out and Harry tries to help patch things up, not realizing that Ron fancies him.
Summary: Harry is Ron's best friend, so of course he goes to talk sense into Ron's family when they react so poorly to Ron's announcement that he's gay— even though Ron specifically tells him not to. And who is the mystery bloke who's already caught Ron's eye? Sometimes things the most obvious are also the least apparent.
Warnings (if applicable): enthusiastic use of a sex toy
Notes: My boundless and heartfelt gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins and [livejournal.com profile] llembas for their perceptive betas. You help me hone my wordcraft with each story!
