In Portland!! :D :D
I'll be meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] emansil_12 in around 3½ hours. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ♥ I've only actually had the privilege of being with her in person one time before, now a little over four years ago. It was during my cross-country drive to Portland, the first time. And now we'll have most of a day to hang out, go have lunch with [livejournal.com profile] evannichols, visit a yarn store, maybe my wee library branch, see where I live, all kinds of marvelous things like that. And my beloved [livejournal.com profile] evannichols has generously offered up the use of his vehicle, so we'll be much more easily mobile.

I must make sure that my camera's battery is working properly!!!

And perhaps a wee bit of text. ;)
it's been a really frakking fabulous few days )

So!! I am so very, very happy and feeling validated and cherished and thrilled about my present and where I'm headed. I am indeed a beloved child of the Universe. ♥

It really has been a banner day on many levels. In my inbox today, I received this email:
    Hello,Thevina.

I'm zizi from China, and I am a big fan of Ron, like all the stories about him. When I came across your fanfic "Strife from the Furthest Prime", I found myself really fell in love with HARRY/RON ship, it's almost became my OTP in HarryPotter fandom. The desperation and heartbreaking is so delicious, crazy Harry is so delicious, and of course that tender, protective Bill is brilliant, what else should I do besides love this story?

And now I'm wondering that may I translate this story into Chinese in order to share with other Fans?

I didn't catch the Chinese ver. of it through internet, that's why I'm asking for your permission. And for sure I will have the author name, the original English link on the top, then give you the link where I post my translation, plus a copy of it if you would like to.

I'm so psyched! I've had one Tolkien story translated into German ("Antiphon to Light," found here). This is my third request; I'd suddenly had a flashback to some extended emails with a young Italian boy who really liked my Ron/something and was going to translate some stories, but then he vanished. I'm hoping this pans out!! :D :D

This will be a super-short post about my trip thus far (very, very heavy on the baby action, and conversations about babies, and childcare, and pregnancy, and cars, and babies, and me getting a lot of knitting done, and some writing, and more conversations about and with babies going on around me), but I had an absolutely marvelous time visiting with [livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun. We met at Sweet Melissa Patisserie and hugged and squeed and talked and ate and drank coffee and talked and ate and drank coffee and talked and talked and talked. She was just as warm and expressive and articulate and enthusiastic and approachable and open as I imagined she would be. We hung out for a good three hours and I've decided that I definitely need to plan another trip up this way before I return to the west coast. It was a true gift to get to spend that much quality time one on one with her. Meeting fandom friends can be so life-affirming, especially when, to be candid, I've not felt that I have a whole lot to say to my siblings/stepsiblings/their spouses because I'm the lone divorcee with no children who isn't into babies. Or young children. So I've been knitting and hanging out in the same room, but feeling rather superfluous. But spending time with Oshun was a tremendous highlight. Right now I'm over at my brother's, and he's cooking something that smells quite delicious, and I've discovered he speaks Hindi to his son (10 month old, baby #2 for the trip), as well as English. Very interesting.

Tomorrow's speldiferous event? I'll get to visit with [livejournal.com profile] brumeux77 for the… third time, I believe it is! How fortunate of a person am I?!

I've just had a short conversation with Philip Glass, who was practicing in the music studio next door. I was lurking in the hallway as he started and stopped, then after a while the door opened. He didn't look super startled to find me there. I told him how to find the men's restrooms (he asked) and I told him how much I was looking forward to his opera. He asked if I was in the production, and I said no, I was on the staff, but I'd begun seeing him live in 1991. "Here?" he asked, genuinely baffled. "No, in Nashville."

:D :D :D :D :D :D

This is definitely a highlight in my little life. Up close and personal. Wow. I'm totally starstruck.
