I know and respect that many of you aren't on the Book of Face. I had some amazing photos taken at a photo shoot last Sunday, and wanted to share. They're proprietary, and so I'm not going to put them on Flickr or anything, so here's the link to my FB page that shows 3 of my favorites. I also have gone ahead and made a super-basic Wordpress blog in anticipation of marketing myself as an original fiction author, found here. It features one of those photos.

Here's the FB page link

This has only happened one other time to me, while watching "Ugly Betty" and a suit I'd bought at The Limited in the spring of '92 appeared on an episode. It happened again, today! I was giving "Big Love" a try, mostly to look at Chloe Sevigny, and the second time she's on screen, she was wearing a shirt that I own!!.

Freaky. I had to show Evan too, of course. :D And it's not like it's some well-known brand, which makes it even more bizarre; I think I found mine at a T.J. Maxx in Nashville years ago. Carlie's Court is the brand on the tag. How about that, eh?

I'll link to the Raverly page which has more pics and my general dissatisfaction with how it fits in the back, but also from my upper chest upwards. But the sleeves and the yarn are gorgeous!

It's been a challenging couple of weeks. Work continues to be a variety of things, including disheartening and perhaps a short-term environment for me after all. More details in a day or so in a non-public environment, just in case.

But! In very exciting news! Under the cut is a new and up-to-date photo of yours truly with my new haircut and haircolor, for however long it lasts. Will be fun for Steamcon. Speaking of that, I'm actually sewing again, for the first time since 1988 on a sewing machine other than my own.
see here! )

I don't know if anyone else on my flist has made anything from a Folkwear pattern. My assembly is further along than in the picture; I can almost try them on. I'll be sporting them at Steamcon, though I'm not sure with what.

If you'd like to see the other pictures in the set that [livejournal.com profile] evannichols took during a mini photo shoot from the 17th, they are here.

I hope you all are well! Sorry so quiet on my end. Sorting through things.

I've been working on a couple of knitting projects, and hadn't really posted about them or shown photos. I did borrow [livejournal.com profile] evannichols's camera and finally took some pictures, now below the cut:

I may or may not have mentioned this, but the Official Mascot for Airbnb is… the mustache. So when Evan received a tentacle mustache as a gift, I knew there would be a photo op. So here we are in the new (to me) vintage dress I bought when [livejournal.com profile] emansil_12 was here visiting, and Evan in his steampunk garb. Then me with the mustache. Because, well— tentacle mustache!!

I feel as though I've been going on and on about how much I love my job at Airbnb, so I won't gush more about it here. But I LOVE IT. For those who might wonder what my days and hours are, here's how they are through the end of September: 10-7, PST, Sunday-Monday, Wed-Fri. So I have Saturdays and Tuesdays off. We put in requests for new shifts each quarter, so there's a chance mine will change for Oct-December. I'll also begin working remotely (ie: from home, or Evan's house, or a coffee shop, or wherever I want where there's reliable internet!) in October. So, yay, no commute at all and working in whatever clothes I feel like, plus I can go out for a quick jog or run errands during my lunch and then come back home!

Many of you know that I recently went on a 3-day trip to go camping with Evan, attending an annual Nichols family get-together. In recent years they've met at Spicer Meadow Reservoir campground, and that's where we were this year. So I met his parents and older brother and spouse and couple of other friends who were there. I'd Skyped with them once before, but this was my first time to get to meet them in person. The setting was gorgeous, the weather sublime, the starry night sky phenomenal, and the sleeping on a thin mat on the ground something I didn't miss so much once we returned home. But here are a couple of pictures:

Earlier that week, as noted, my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] emansil_12 was in Portland for a couple of days before going off to Lubricus. She and I spent an absolutely marvelous day together, and here's the visual proof. This picture was taken at the building where Evan's work is located, in a large and sunny atrium that features someone playing piano every day during lunch hours!

So I'm settling into my work schedule, at least for the next month. Even with that, since I'm working Labor Day, I'll have the subsequent Friday off. In other words, I haven't really been able to settle into an actual routine yet. That may not really happen until October when I'm working at home. We'll see. This week I am so looking forward to my Tuesday off. I'm starting out the day with a massage from my friend Karla, and then getting my eyes checked at 4:00. My eyesight has been funky and not in a good way. Now that I finally have health/dental/vision insurance again, for the first time in 3 or so years I'll get my eyes checked and will probably end up with new lenses. Maybe even new frames!

Oh, those fun, hip youngsters I'm working with now. :) A video was made to showcase our temporary space here in Portland, so I thought I'd share. You can see me toward the back of our on-the-floor circle around 1:17-1:19, and then around 2:37 there's a speeded-up moment of me jumping on the beanbag in a blur of a leopard-print tank top and khaki skirt. It's all good!

Link is here.

And even if I didn't work here, I do encourage you to look around the Airbnb website because it is a lot of fun. Make an account! (And no, you absolutely do not have to attach any Facebook accounts to create one, though the creation page does push it) Look at amazing — and odd — places to stay! If you have a spare bedroom, list a space!

Okay, enough exclamation points. My new schedule is 10-7 but I've been up since 5 o'clock as I was up with [livejournal.com profile] evannichols and am caffeinated387 or so. :P

I don't think I've posted this many pictures since my trip to England last summer! But both of my cardigans are completely finished now, with buttons and everything, so I thought I'd post pictures. I think I mentioned that I'm working on this Mystery 1980s Cardigan™ that my grandmother was working on a few years ago and frankly, neither she nor anyone else knows who it was going to be for, so now I'll get to wear it. It's just plain stockinette, but the yarn variegation is pretty enough. But after that, I'll be completely without a new knitting project! This is Not Good, even though there's heaps on my plate. I have A Game of Thrones to listen to now! But no money. Still, I think I will do some research into a fitted cardigan in black, a nice soft black wool yarn, with some kind of pattern in it, even though I'll probably go blind. LOL.

I finished the knitted sugar-glider and gave it to my stepsister's daughter Dahlen on Sunday. Here are 3 pics of the finished item, by itself and with me and the recipient.
