Well, the big news for me is that the most recent issue of Filament magazine is not only one that features red headed males, but it also has my article! I can't wait to get my author copy. I'll be buying a few extras as well, no doubt. :)

Also, when I was chatting with one of my Furious Flower colleagues, part of my dream from last night came to me, and I was a vampire! But I was hanging out with two other vampires, and while there was a little bit of feeding, it hurt, and not in a good way. Hmmmm. I haven't even watched True Blood in a couple of weeks. In fact, thanks to a recommendation from persephone100, I downloaded and watched Shaun of the Dead, a silly British zombie movie that was so non-believable and schticky even I could watch it.

In a first for me for the holiday season, as part of the three exchanges I'm involved in, I'm writing three stories: one pre-slash, one gen, and one… het. What is wrong with the universe? I miss my monks and/or writing good 'ol PWP slash. Maybe in the new year. That said, two of the three are essentially done, and I really grooved on writing the Tolkien one.

Glad to be on the other side of the Thanksgiving holidays. For Christmas, as an unintentional gift to me, my parents will be going up to NYC to hang out with grandchildren. I'll take care of the pets and watch over the house. :D And stay in comfy clothes, unless I have to work at Panera, which is highly possible. My thanks to those I chatted with over the holidays and helped me to keep my sanity when things were a bit on the desperate side. ♥

Apparently there's already some Inception slash out there. I've not seen the movie— I'd like to see it, but it's not showing here in the 'burg. Can anyone on my flist whose seen this tell me who the main pairing is? somebody/Eames, I believe? And while there were homoerotic overtones in the film (I believe) there wasn't anything explicit, right? How would you summarize the orientation for those two characters?

I've heard back from Filament's editor about my article; I'll need to rework it and get some more feedback from people, but she also mentioned that she was going to consult with her lawyer about the possibility of including some slash fan art. I'm not really up on fan art as much as writers, and most of the artists whose work I do know is older- are any of you on my flist close with any of the more well-known (in HP fandom, say) fan artists enough that I could ask whether or not she would even consider having some of her art potentially included in a magazine? I'd like to be able to see some of the art before writing to anybody.

I'd really love to get some more responses to my slash meta questions; I know I'm not writing an article to try and get in a sexuality journal or anything like that, but I'd like to get a wider selection of responses. I'm thrilled that as many of you have replied thoughtfully to my questions. Perhaps this will lead to another academic paper after this!

For those following my original fiction story, I wanted to say that I'm taking a short hiatus from it because a rather cracktastic bunny got me for a HP story for a friend's upcoming birthday, plus a Gimli story set during the period of The Hobbit. Plus I need to figure out some of the finer points of the khorite religion before I continue on, I think.

Same rules apply for the first one: be considerate, be as honest as you can be, as long or short as you wish. Filament often talks about the female gaze, and the fact that women enjoy looking at men and men's bodies, not just reading about them. In regards to slash, thinking about characters with an inner eye to their bodies (written slash), or true visuals (fan art or videos), would you say that your enjoyment is more about sensuality or sexuality? Does it vary depending on the fandom and/or pairing? And the key question: do you know why you're drawn to slash? Are you someone who reads/looks at all ratings of slash, or only particular ones? If so, which?

Woo hoo! I'd emailed the editor at filamentmag over the past year and offered myself up to write an article on women slash writers and artists. And she said it could work! So I'll be looking to some of you for the most current media references and papers (especially to do with visuals versus writing), and also to get some anecdotal material. It will appear in the December issue, so I'll be writing this over the next couple of months. It shouldn't be more than 2K, so it'll be an overview and some conjecture, but I'm thrilled to be able to write on this topic in nonfiction form once again. I'd especially like to hear from any slash fan artists/vidders I have on my flist as one of the premises for Filament is that women enjoy seeing men and enjoying looking at their bodies— so while it is very common that women are slash writers, they also do photo manips and videos and art.

On an unrelated note, I'm slowly getting my England photos uploaded, turned around the right way, and resized from enormous to manageable. Once I have them up, I'll link to them in my gallery.
