I've heard back from Filament's editor about my article; I'll need to rework it and get some more feedback from people, but she also mentioned that she was going to consult with her lawyer about the possibility of including some slash fan art. I'm not really up on fan art as much as writers, and most of the artists whose work I do know is older- are any of you on my flist close with any of the more well-known (in HP fandom, say) fan artists enough that I could ask whether or not she would even consider having some of her art potentially included in a magazine? I'd like to be able to see some of the art before writing to anybody.

Thanks so much! And I'll be posting soon to get feedback about some different aspects to slash.

I would suggest checking Deviant Art and browsing yourself. There is a ton of HP art there, some of it quite good, depending upon one's taste and, to my knowledge, that is THE most commonly used site for fanfic artists to archive, aside from individual, scattered websites. It also provides a way for you contact individual artists without knowing them personally.

P.S. If you want the "big names" you can browse by "most popular."

I'm on the road, but when I get back from Miami, I can link you to some good slash artists. SayAye was one of my faves, but I don't think she'd be willing to have her stuff published. Ebe probably would. Erestor has a friend who did artwork for her books, so I'll ask about that person, too.

"Close"? No. [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots occasionally comments on my journal, and usually responds when I comment on hers, so she at least knows my name. I suppose I could ask her if you get no better offers.

She's a pretty well known artist, isn't she? I'd love for you to ask her how she'd feel about having a slash work of hers potentially published in a magazine.

Yes, I believe so. She's certainly one of the first whose name registered with me and whose style I can immediately recognize. OK: off to send her a message...

I've asked a few artists in the past, including glockgal, Ani_Bester, lizardspots, etc, about using their art in Movie Magic Magazine - although we've usually used Gen art. I'm not sure what legal issues there could be for using famart but if they have any questions, if I can answer anything, or OTW's info pages might have some info on the legal issues.

Thanks so much! The editor should be able to find out what she needs, I just need to get some artists to her.

well i was going to say you could talk to [livejournal.com profile] alaanafair (or i could) about putting something up on [livejournal.com profile] hd_fanart to ask current artists, but it sounds like you have more than enough options already.

still, let me know if you're interested in that comm as a source, i do know three of the mods well.

oh! and i know [livejournal.com profile] red_rahl who still does a bit of h/d, though most of her stuff is comics.

my other artist friend is out of fandom so i don't think she'd be interested, but her stuff is gorgeous.

Would you mind asking your friend who's no longer in fandom? Especially if you think her work is beautiful. I'll get in touch with she who used to be cugami, but I'm not too hopeful.

Hello :)

[livejournal.com profile] brumeux77 got in touch with me and said you were looking for slash fanart for your article? You're welcome to look through my masterlist of art here (http://lizardspots.livejournal.com/274782.html) (warning for various smutty pictures, some of which is kinky). I would want you and your editor to be absolutely certain that there will be no repercussions if the powers that be feel that fanart printing is a breach of copyright xD. If there is any level of doubt, I'd prefer that you print my art without my signature and without crediting me as the artist. But I don't mind you using it, if there's anything that you think is suitable. ^_^

That's excellent! Thank you so very much! Suraya, the editor, asked that any interested parties contact her and you can guide her to your work. Her email is editor at filamentmagazine dot com. I hope you'll get in touch with her!

I hope I don't sound too contrary, but would you mind getting in touch with her on my behalf? All I ask is that you let me know which pictures your editor is interested in using, and I'll remove the signature for her.
