Some other positives from yesterday and anticipated for today:

I decided to buy my own dyes so that I can proceed with my yarn dyeing without being reliant on my friend. In doing a search to see if Fabric Depot had the brand he'd recommended, I came across a web page that had a set of 6 color starter set of specific acid dyes for yarns for $24.99. The yarn company pinged for me, and I remembered that my mother had given me a $25 gift certificate for a yarn company and I'd not used it yet (because $25 doesn't actually go all that far in terms of purchasing yarn for anything other than a hat/socks/scarf)... same company!! So I bought them. There was much elation.
Later in the afternoon, I was invited to come along on a walk with [livejournal.com profile] evannichols and [personal profile] sanguinity. The weather and company were delightful. There was much talk of zombies and zombie-killing devices, and martial arts. And [livejournal.com profile] evannichols was only punched once!
I scored a personal best, point-wise, playing online boggle: 49.
I meant to get up at my usual time this morning, but was so tired I reset my alarm to get up at 7:21 so I could be at the plasma center by 8:00. I did reset it, but then closed the phone without saving it. I'll go in at 9 o'clock instead. Those who've been following me for a while will remember my grousing when trying to donate in Harrisonburg, but this place is literally 2½ blocks from the house. Before, I was stuck with a bus system that only went to the plasma center once an hour, so that was where the timesuck happened if I failed on the iron count. Here there's no problem with that, but… they don't take appointments. So the timesuck is reliant on how many other people are there in front of you. But I have not just one but two new books to read, and knitting projects out the wazoo. I'll be fine in terms of self-entertainment.
I may just be ready to start up jogging again. I did well for several weeks, then things went south and north and south and north and I went back to the easier option: isometric exercise in the form of remembered Pilates stuff at home in my room. But some cardio would do me good.

This got long. My dream life is also out of control, but that's par for the course. My mother had showed up so many times in my dreams that I emailed her to touch base. For now, however, I really need to get a move on!

:sigh:

I'm feeling particularly discouraged and displeased with much of the world today. This, despite a fabulous and really upbeat interview on Tuesday, and a reasonable enough interview this morning (though I'm not jazzed about today's and I'd really like to work for the company I spoke with on Tuesday). I think it's because I haven't heard from the Tuesday company and I'd indicated that were I to have a follow-up interview, tomorrow would be the best day. I've heard absolutely nothing, which I find disheartening. This also despite the fact that my other enterprise is going pretty well, though I am learning about how to do the order of things with the yarn, and I'll end up frustrated having done what I did today. I suppose it didn't help that I heard from one of the placement companies where I have my resume and, once again, it was for sales rather than customer service. I'd applied for a screening position, which is how the position would start, but this particular company intends for any incoming hire to get her/his life and health license within three months- and they'll reimburse some of that cost. So, in other words, they want you to be trained in not long to become a qualified life and health insurance salesperson. When asked if I was still interested, I said no, but to please keep me in mind for other things. Being in this state of mind is often a dangerous place for me, but thankfully I haven't been thinking very often about making a poor choice for myself. Instead I 'treated' myself to some Fritos and cheese. Instead of my usual comfort-food bowlful, plus heaps of sour cream, I had exactly 1½ servings and not nearly as much cheese as I usually do. And I have no sour cream, so that was easy. [livejournal.com profile] evannichols also isn't having a particularly wonderful day, so I'm not about to call and complain to him. Or I wasn't while he was at work. We'll talk tonight. It's for the best that I just sit with myself and get used to experiencing uncomfortable feelings; that's going to be a part of the rest of my life if I continue down a path without my former 'mood stabilizer.' For now, I get to have a low-grade whine here on DW/LJ. At least there's strawberries. And Diet Coke.

DMV Blues

Some of you may remember this post about discovering that my OR driver's license was (according to that staff member) still intact and good through 2017. I lost my wallet back in January and have replaced everything except for my Social Security card and DL, because I don't have a car and I've been using my passport as ID. I'd made it a goal to go to the DMV this week and buck up for a replacement DL, so this morning I was at the office bright eyed at 8:05, armed to the teeth with ID and cash for the replacement. Well. Turns out that actually once I got a Virginia ID, my OR license did become null and void, and according to the state of Oregon (and Virginia, somehow) I have no state license or state ID whatsoever. D: So. I get to start over from scratch: $5 for the written test, then once I pass that, $9 to take the DRIVING TEST (which I haven't had to do since I first got my license in 1987), and cough up another $60 for the license itself. Perhaps it goes without saying that now this has become not a priority for this week. Damn. Frankly I'd rather spend the money getting my eyes checked and getting new lenses or whatever I need to do. One day, hopefully, I'll have health insurance again.

On the plus side, not only do I have an in-person interview this Thursday, I was also given a call about a job I'd applied to at Reed College and I have a 30 minute phone interview tomorrow at 3:30! So yay about all that. I'll continue to focus on the positives and take care of the driver's license stuff in good time.

I've filed my federal taxes and those for Virginia. I've spent an inordinate amount trying to make my Oregon taxes make any sense whatsoever— there's simply no way I can taxed on double the amount of income I actually earned in the state. I want the little taxes that I paid returned to me as there's simply no way I can owe them anything.

It is wretched that I can't e-file a partial residency for free. I'll see if another set of eyes on it will make it make sense, otherwise I may pay $20 in order to get $81 back. :P The Oregon state tax form SUCKS.

I really hate it when I wake up at unfortunate early hours of the morning and promptly settle into busybrain. Once that happens, there's absolutely no hope of going back to sleep. That happened this morning at 3:53, and by 4:05 I gave up and went ahead and made coffee and got a shower. This does mean that I can get all sorts of things done by 10:20, which is when I'll head out to go to BHFT to have lunch with [livejournal.com profile] evannichols. Part of the reason why I have busybrain is that I haven't heard from my prior nightmarish landlord about my deposit, as well as retrieving some items from Julia. I've written letters to both of them; both letters I'll mail today are follow-up correspondence and one threatens taking legal action. Not a happy place for me to be, but I'm fed up with both of them. Grrrr.

So now, I'll try to do my Oregon taxes- if my mind is clear enough! I have had several cups of coffee, but I am a bit sleep-deprived. :P

So I went first thing this morning, and… there was an announcement after about 25 minutes. Their network printers were down. They didn't know how long it would take for them to be fixed, and they couldn't issue any new licenses due to that.

:seethes:

So I'm going back again tomorrow morning, my third attempt to switch out my Oregon driver's license for a Virginia one. Thankfully they wrote "priority" on my form so I'll get to go to the head of the line. Augh.
