I wish the last picture had turned out better, but I was squinting into the sunshine. Damn sunshine! Anyway, there you go. Now I'm desperate to find yarn for at least one if not two new projects, but the local yarn store has totally disappointed me. Guess I'll be going online and trying to find some decent yarns that are maybe even on sale.

How these three amazing people all have birthdays on the same day (and one of my stepsisters!) is crazyweirdwonderful to me.

wolfiekins, llembas/Jen and risiepookie, it's technically not quite all of your birthdays, but now I'm in the pacific time zone so I'm wishing you happy birthdays anyway.

My thanks to llembas for being the first person to beta for me, to teach me how to punctuate dialog, how *not* to overuse adjectives, and for giving me an invitation to join LJ back in the dark ages when you needed one to have an account. You are also the first fandom friend I sought out in person after knowing you online first. I'm so glad we're still friends and that you have an exciting year ahead of you!

To risiepookie: I'm so glad that I became a beta for you at TQP and that our relationship blossomed and blossomed and became a living, vibrant friendship. If I could take away all of your health issues, I would do so in a heartbeat. I mourn the fact that we're not able to be in touch as often as we were a while ago, but know that you are so often in my heart and thoughts and I hope to be able to see you in person again in the next year.

And last but not least, dear wolfiekins. It was on your birthday when I first got brave enough to call you! I can still remember sitting in the rocking chair in the room in my parent's house where I was living at the time, and how from beta'ing for you and then you for me and then us constantly cross-referencing each other's stories and chatting for hours about our stories became conversations about every topic under the sun and then I invited myself to your house. :D You have been a confidante and understanding friend unlike any other, and I am so grateful for your friendship and support in these recent years.

To all three of you: please know how profoundly you have affected my life and how desolate this world would be for me (and a great many others!!!) were you all not in it. It is a privilege and honor to be friends of each of you and I hope you're celebrated with joyful abandon on the 16th (and for days to come!) in whatever way makes you each the happiest.

Oh my dear friend. And that I know the genesis of fungus_files as a username is something that warms my heart. I've known you since we were sixteen, or I was sixteen, anyway. That year in Australia was one of the most formative I've had in my life, and I'm so glad that despite distance, our changing lives and pursuits, and other factors that could have caused us not to remain friends, we are still friends and confidantes. Happy birthday!! It's quite an eventful year for you with the new bub, and I do hope that I'll be able to come down in October, depending on how my path here continues on, but I remain hopeful.

Where to start? Well, it's Wraeththu, first and foremost. You were a new author to the fandom, and I loved your premise of your first long story, and I became your beta, wanting to foster more Wraeththu fanfiction. Then I got to know you, and we began emailing, and then that became a joyous snowball to you being a genuine confidante. You also appreciate Mary Renault, and you sent me my first actual hard copy of The Persian Boy. Mostly, I adore that even though I've known you for under three years, I feel that if I showed up on your doorstep, we'd share laughing, deep spirited hugs, and talk and eat and drink and I can't wait until that happens in real time.

I am so sorry that I'd not put you into my birthday calendar until too late; otherwise I'd have had a proper birthday fic. As it is, I'll make your recent drabble request more than a drabble, and try to tie it into the maryrenaultfics recent call for stories.

If I could choose to have a sister, you'd be there in a heartbeat. Thank you, thank you so much for letting me preview and edit your stories. Knowing about the rest of your life is a tremendous boon. FWIW, in looking at Oshun's beta for me of M+M, she recognized Talith-Rana as yours, and I'm so gratified to incorporate that and Kemahl into my first ever to-be published novel, all thanks to Storm and her vision.
