Plodding along with feline company
Nov. 17th, 2011 02:39 pmLast night I had the good fortune of bedding down not just with Stan, but also Kitty Boy. Unfortunately I was finding it difficult to get to sleep, and when I glanced over at my clock and saw it was 1:30 a.m. I did give serious thought to going and getting a pill to help, but that would have involved getting up, and I had cats curled up on both sides of my legs. So I decided to wait it out and eventually I did fall asleep. Having the cats and particularly Stan back in my life are such a joy— Taffy had definitely decided to be my fast friend at my parents', but I've always been a cat person first and foremost and Stan had adopted me when I lived here last and he's taken up with me again now that I'm back. There's something so incredibly marvelous about having a decent sized cat sprawled out on my chest, one paw stretched out over my shoulder under the covers while going to sleep. :)
This week I've continued in my daily job search and have picked up another interview on Monday plus a modeling gig this Saturday, the 29th and December 9th. I also got my food benefits straightened out (there had been some issues between Oregon and Virginia but it's all settled now) and will do a job meeting of some sort with the benefits office as part of getting the food help. Seeing as how I'm already incredibly driven and tenacious about this stuff, that's not an issue, but it turns out that they'll give me some bus tickets to help with my search. YAY!!! Because at $5 a pop for a full day pass, that is a huge help.
The vintage cardigan I'm knitting is coming along so quickly! The back and fronts are done and I've started on the sleeves. Pictures soon to come. I'm also enjoying writing on my Gimli story; I checked out The Annotated Hobbit from the library as I have him going up to Erebor post-WR and details about the dwarves up there is found in The Hobbit, not really LotR. And my copy of The Hobbit is back in VA, along with other books I wish now I'd packed, but I'll get back eventually. Speaking of writing, today I signed up for Yuletide, and now am nervous about what I'll be asked to write. I opted not to sign up for His Dark Materials or True Blood since that's what I've written in Yuletides past, so we'll see who I get paired up with. :) And having just picked a Secret of Kells icon, I'm realizing I should have nominated that as a fandom! Surely gapfiller fanfic could be written for it. Next year, I suppose. ;)
