Yes, I'm making up words. I'll warn again for excessive happiness, but hey: I think I've paid for this.
I've been fortunate enough to be hanging out with
evannichols since Wednesday, definitely a treat in and of itself. Wednesday did include a trip out to Gresham, which is kind of like going to the end of the world, but we were fortunate enough to have
sanguinity follow us out there and provide a return by car. Thursday
evannichols worked from home while I did job hunting things and other stuff. I had an interview out in Beaverton that afternoon so E. and I took the same bus to downtown, then I saw him off on a Max train to the east (another Gresham adventure!) and then I took one heading out to the western suburbs. The interview was great! I really enjoyed speaking with the managing director and the person who'd been promoted which was making her position available. I don't often come out of an interview with a kind of endorphin rush, but that's what happened. They won't be making a decision in the immediate future, but I am hopeful that they'll pick me because there are so many great things I could do for them, and I hope I will be able to.
The rest of the weekend has been amazing— E. had Friday off for Good Friday of all holidays, so we've been luxuriating in a three-day weekend. There has been a trip to Goodwill, where he found a fabulous pair of pants that will work for Steampunk-type events (and I scored two pair of clam diggers/highwaters/pedal pushers, whatever you like to call them, a Celtic leather wallet, some hangers, a box of notecards which I used to write my interview thank you notes, and a pair of summer sandal/not-really-clogs shoes that were $4.99, but they had the color tag for the day to be half price!! :D), I've gone jogging twice, we've eaten yummy food, enjoyed plenty of down time, watched a couple of movies, had some assessing and then organizing of plastic food storage containers really, all done in the interest of enjoying each other's company. Today will have more of that, plus at least part of a Pilates DVD, and I'll head back to my house this evening. Oh, and there was also giving of the giftie from my adventure on Monday, but I'll wait and see if
evannichols posts about it. If not, I'll reveal this week. I'll just say that being around him has not only caused my romantic nature not to be dormant, it's been positively unleashed.
One other element to our being together has been the sharing of dreams in the morning. I tend to have cycles of frequent and highly detailed dreaming when I remember my dreams every morning. I don't know whether it's because my subconscious is particularly active right now or that E. and I share our dreams with each other when first waking up, but it's been a real pleasure to share the oddness that has gone on in our minds overnight. I've tended to dream about running around in huge houses, or a vast hotel— dream interpretation somewhat consistently seems to indicate that dreams about lots of rooms and in houses/residences indicates exploring one's own psyche. Makes sense to me.
I'm getting very close to finishing my vest! I'm only about a half inch from the specified length, then I'll do all of the bind-off and decorative edging and then all I'll need to do is block it and be done. I've decided to make an adorable baby owl cardigan for both of my stepsisters out of this yarn since I believe they're both pregnant with second children. I'll get more details and confirm that when I talk with my stepdad today, if I get him on the phone.
Also on the positive job front, I applied to a database contractor position and while I highly doubt I'll be brought in, it was great to hear from the recruiter and after we talked, she said she felt comfortable at least submitting my resume into the mix. Then I got a call from one of the Portland community centers where I'd submitted a resume and cover letter, and I have an interview with them next week! Things do seem to happen when I get really serious about looking for a job.
In essence: it's all splendiferous. :)
