After sleeping in (because I couldn't sleep last night and ended up re-watching BSG "Razor" at around 1:30 a.m.), I made coffee, got cleaned up (because I'd gone to the gym last night and did the hot tub/sauna/steam room trio and was all sweated out), and packed my workout stuff in anticipation of going to free yoga followed by an actual workout at the gym. No free yoga! :( The class was trumped by a workshop. So I walked in the chilly rain to a nearby consignment store hoping to find some pants. My figure just isn't well-suited for the shape of pants in their current trends, and/or I'm inbetween conventional sizes. I tried on 8 pair in two different sizes and none of them worked. So off to the gym I went: this is my trial membership gym number three since January, this one an under-5-minute walk from the house. It's also the most expensive. *sigh* Their pool is great in that it's salt water, not chlorinated. I managed to find my goggles from my lap swimming days, and asked the gent at the counter how many laps a mile would be. Thirty-six. So that's what I did. After the gym time, I got my car filled up so I wouldn't be worried going to church tomorrow morning, and went to the grocery store. Wheeeeeee. Made another scrumptious spinach salad with a perfectly ripe avocado, black olives, blue cheese crumbles, almonds, craisins, carrots and blue cheese dressing. Yum!! The rest of today will (WILL) be spent writing up this Ron/Draco which is eating my brain. I feel badly for poor Ron; once again I'm torturing a character I love. And how did it get to be almost 9,000 words already, and I'm probably at about the halfway point? Speaking of R/D, the comm that I'm writing this for, [livejournal.com profile] rd_challenge, has re-opened signups for a few days. I know there are several R/D people on my flist, and while many of you have moved on to more active pairings and fandoms, if you wanted a nudge to write a bit more R/D, feel free!

A last bit 'o pimpage before I disappear into a very non-Magic Immunity R/D story, there are still three days (and some, depending on where you live) until April, which means there are a few days to come up with a contribution for the Marvellous Month of March over at Remus/Ron slash.

Mmmmm, your salad sounds scrumptious! I never heard of a salt water pool! Awesome! Glad to hear you're working on some writing, of course when are you not? LOL! I wish I had your will power to exercise. I need to lose 5lbs. that I've put on since Thanksgiving. I know it doesn't sound like much, but at my age it's hard to lose and easy to gain. And five pounds is a pants size. I got a whole bunch of size 6 pants and now I can't get my fat ass into them! I used to stay skinny no matter how much I ate--Ah the good old days! Well, at least the dog likes when I have to exercise. He gets to accompany me on walks.

I, too, currently am torturing a character I love, in my twinfic. *sigh* I hope to make things better for him before too long. I'll be sending the next pages to you soon, hopefully tomorrow.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's so hard to be cruel to those we love, isn't it? Still, it does make for good reading, usually. ;)

I hope you had a great weekend! It was wonderful to get your email, and I'll have more for you soon. I'll probably be able to beta the twinfic pages you sent me by tonight.

(((hugs)))

Good for you for swimming a mile. And your salad sounded scrumptious. Good luck with your Ron fic. Are you going to be around this evening?
Hugs

It did feel good to swim, and the salad was especially yummy! I went down to my friend Yvonne's yesterday after church and she and her son were on their way to brunch, so I tagged along and had a good 'ol greasy breakfast. ;) I'd been craving eggs and toast, though, so this was perfect. Me being me, I'd simply written it into my Ron/Draco fic.

It was so great to chat with you yesterday! I've had yet another fandom faceslap. I'm getting pretty sick of this. :P

I posted my Yuletide entry (His Dark Materials fandom that you so kindly beta'ed!) at a
HDM fanfiction comm here on LJ that I've been a member of for ages but don't pay much attention to because there are so few people who write HDM fanfic. Anyway, I posted it and received this as the only comment (thus far): How does Lyra know the Knife's broken?
It royally pissed me off this morning, but with some time, I'm now going to write a slightly higher road retort about perhaps supporting people contributing to the comm and then prove my evidence canonically. Just asshattery. At least when I got the non-comment at raythoo (or the person commented about the canon, nothing at all about my actual story) s/he didn't come across as totally rude. I'm having a lot of "Whatever" moments of late.

I know how that feels. I've had comments in the past like that. I find it's best to assume that rudeness isn't meant (even if it was) and to realize that one can't hear intonation or other facial cues on-line, so perhaps she really wanted to know. *pets you*

A salt water pool? Interesting. I'd be afraid to try it, m'self (I had an unpleasant experience swimming in salt water as a child), but it sounds like you enjoyed yourself, which is excellent! I've not ben swimming in ages. :sigh:

I can't wait to read your new R/D; I'm certainly intrigued by the snippets you've shared with me thus far. :)

I know there are several R/D people on my flist, and while many of you have moved on to more active pairings and fandoms, if you wanted a nudge to write a bit more R/D, feel free!

You know, I would love to -- but considering how unforgivably LATE my last exchange/challenge fic was, I'm scared to even consider it. You know, firsthand, how terrible I am with deadlines. :sulks:

In the meantime, a friend of mine presented me with an evil challenge: Ron/Adrian (Veidt, Watchmen) fic, and while it's absurd and goes against my position about not crossing fandoms, I'm totally trying to come up with a way to make it work. O_O

Currently I have a sleeping bub who wakes up in such a frightful screaming panic that I'm wondering if newborns have nightmares. :/

I had my first salt water pool experience in Australia, so I'll be forever biased toward them. ;) But it really is so much easier on your skin and eyes than chlorine. And you don't reek of chlorine.

Would it be okay for me to send you and [livejournal.com profile] stuckinsea the story thus far? I'd love to know if it's coming across as ambiguous as I hope it is. It's gotten longer than I'd hoped, darnit.

You don't believe in crossovers? Did I know this about you?? Well, you know that I love your writing and just wish there was more of it out there. In the meantime, I keep a folder on my harddrive with your stories and any snippets I've been allowed to look at and/or edit. ;)

Sorry about the baby; I just have no idea how people parent. I knew I'd never do so and admire those who do. ((((Watchman-y hugs))))

You know damned well it would be more than okay! I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] stuckinsea feels the same way. Send it on! I love your longish fics. :)

You don't believe in crossovers? Did I know this about you??

Perhaps not; I don't talk it about it, really. But no, as a rule, I don't consider doing crossovers because I don't understand how to throw two entirely different 'verses together and make them plausible and enjoyable. But this Ron/Adrian idea is making me rethink that position, lol.

I'm baffled as to how to go about it, though: even the time in which Watchmen takes place (the mid-1980s) presents its own set of challenges! And it would require bottom!Ron, which is a harder headspace for me to get into: The Adrian Veidt character is entirely too vain and megalomaniacal to be anything but a top. :p :sigh:

Well, you know that I love your writing and just wish there was more of it out there.

Aww. :blushes: You're a doll for saying such sweet things.

The bub is quiet for the moment -- I think she was contending with some gas in her tummy, poor thing. She passed that and is sleeping relatively soundly. I think I'll wake up the hubby in a bit and let him take over. XD
