thrihyrne: Portland, OR (I ship R/D by me)
This is a gift for all of the Ron/Draco people on my flist: I'd mentioned over in [livejournal.com profile] sexyscholar's LJ that I'd found a gorgeous picture that looked like Ron/Draco to me. At long last, I've scanned said picture and will soon be making an icon out of it. In the meantime, here's the picture! It's from a manga called "Lies and Kisses" by Masara Minase. In the manga itself, they don't have red and blond hair, but in this one beautiful picture inside the front cover, they seem to be.

So here 'tis!

thrihyrne: Portland, OR (kjl young dreamer)
I was nosing around [livejournal.com profile] brumeux77's LJ and saw his explanation for 3 of his icons and 3 of his interests and offered to do the same for him. I'm in the process of making some new icons and switching a few out, but the three he picked aren't in that set. So! Here's the meme— NOTE: This is for explanation purposes; none of you all need to do this. :)

Comment here and I will pick 3 interests of yours listed on your user-info and three icons of yours. Make a post explaining them and asking others to comment for their own.

[livejournal.com profile] brumeux77 said: how about explaining envelope art, men in kilts, and purple-ink pens

    envelope art

I began creating my own stationery of sorts in middle/high schoool and turned it more into an obsessive art in college when I was writing to friends all the time. Not that much has changed, though I have fewer people who write back using snail mail. Anyway, I have a large box full of creative paper, old atlases, wrapping paper, calendars, tissue paper, old floppy disks... I use paper and my stamping supplies to decorate the envelopes I send my personal correspondence in— I also still handmake cards and stationery. I take pride in my snail mail, as there's so little that seems to be actual personal correspondence in the post anymore.

    men in kilts

Mmmmmm… I'm of Scotch/Irish heritage, and I love kilts, and men wearing them. I'm a 'leg' woman; I love shapely legs on men and women, but the appeal of a man (or men plural!) wearing a kilt, and nothing underneath, just makes me swoon. So if you want to seduce me, talk fanfic, breathe hotly in my ear, and wear a kilt. ;)

    purple-ink pens

I love purple. Purple everything. I only write with purple, or try; I do also have hot pink, green, and turquoise in my caboodle of writing implements. I have a bad habit of looking for purple pens in every store I go into. In fact, my ink color preference got me in trouble when I last came back from Scotland: I waited to fill out my customs form because it demanded black or blue ink, so once we landed I thought I'd be able to use a provided pen or something with the customs forms, but… there were no pens! I sortof freaked out because I was traveling alone, so I ended up begging a pen off a fellow traveler. Otherwise, I don't know what I would have done, as all I had with me was purple, green and pink. ;)

Since my year in Australia in 1986, I've loved The Stranglers. This album is one of my favorites, and I just like the image of 'aural sculpture.'

Kodamas!!! I'm a huge fan of Miyazaki's works, especially "My Neighbor Totoro" and Princess Mononoke". In Princess Mononoke, there are kodamas, or tree spirits, in it, and I thought they were absolutely marvelous. I have a Princess Mononoke shirt with kodamas on it, so I had to make an icon!

Per the above, I'm of Celtic ancestry, and have been intrigued by standing stones and the like since first reading about Stonehenge when I was a child. Most recently, a couple of years ago there was a picture of the Callanish standing stones on the cover of the travel section of the New York Times. I read the article and looked at my then-husband and said, "I'm going there." So I did. I don't believe that this icon is of those stones (I didn't make it, [livejournal.com profile] skellorg did), but standing stones have loomed large in my psyche since I was a child. I've also been fascinated by the huge heads on Easter Island. Maybe I'll make an icon of those!!

And since this meme is All About Me, the icon for this post is of me as a young child, sprawled out under a tree in Rhode Island. ;)
