thrihyrne: Portland, OR ("Antiphon to Light" Gimli)

Back in May, a lovely person with the pseudonym Cúthalion read my Gimlific story Antiphon to Light over here at the Open Scrolls archive, back in May. At the time he left a great review, told me he'd nominated it for the MEFAs, and asked if he could translate it into German. I, of course said yes, but then didn't hear from him again. Just today he left me another review for it, this time at Stories of Arda, and he congratulated me on my MEFA win for the story. He also let me know he *had* translated it, so this makes my first fic to be translated!! I'm so excited. It's here and looks so cool. I studied German for a couple of semesters but don't come close to reading it. I love seeing Gimli's interchanges and thoughts in German, regardless.

And I think I'm staying out of LJ until the smoke clears about the HP book 7 title.

This is really exciting! My beta had someone ask her last year if they could translate one of her stories into Italian. It's just such an honor when someone wants to take the time to do that! :)

It really, truly is. I'd had a sweet Italian boy, about 16, who asked if he could translate "Cartography of Fire" into Italian, and we ended up corresponding via email for several months but then all of a sudden his email account bounced. I think his parents pulled him off of the computer. It was never translated. ;)

I love that Gimli story -- you write Tolkien so well. I will not be posting about the new title, because I can't stand the fact that we still have 7 months to go before we get our hands on that book! *sighs*

Thank you so much! I reckon I'll be writing some new Gimlific while with the boys; we'll probably watch the movies, or part of them, and I have the soundtracks. I do get inspired just flipping through the books, but the music also does wonders.

Ah, the last HP. I'm already imagining the riots at bookstores around the world. :sigh:

I've had a fic translated into German!

Yeah, that is so exciting! A while ago I had someone ask if they could translate one of my fics, Spin the Bottle I think, into Russian. I haven't heard back from her in quite a while. I expect it takes a while to do.

Congrates on both the award and the translation.

I think she has, or is doing still now, and hopefully I can see it once it's done.

Thanks:)

I'm so sorry!

I don't know why, but from your psuedonym I thought you were masculine. No harm intended. And you have an LJ, too! Excellent! ::friends::

I'm still embarrassed, however.

Whoops.

I'm still also floored and thrilled beyond belief. Thank you so much. ♥

Ah well... Beleg CĂșthalion is a male elf, isn't he? And my penname comes from my very first FF-tale Winter Fire where the heroine (at least in the original version I wrote at the age of seventeen - noone knows it, and for a damn good reason) wore boy's clothing and called herself Beleg CĂșthalion to mask the fact that she was a woman. (She turned out to be a very decent OFC - in the later version, of course).

Fair enough. ;) Hey— if Éowyn can do it, why not others? When I wrote Daughters of Orome, I had several women of Rohan don men's clothing and go off to fight at Helm's Deep. I mean, why not?

Thanks for letting me know your gender, though.
