altariel1 is celebrating a birthday today!! It was her writings which first really inspired me to try and be as exquisite of a writer as she is, and it was in reading one of her short stories which was so starkly beautiful that I cried for the first time (cried after reading a Tolkien fanfiction story, that is; I'm not heartless!). Try explaining that to a coworker when you've had to go to the restroom to try and pull your emotions back together when they have been so tenderly pulled apart...

Also, my friend lyric is celebrating a birthday today, now living in Wellington, NZ. We met at Barlibash in the summer of '02, and correspond not infrequently.
Not only that, but my birthday is on Thursday. I haven't given it much thought this year, but I'm thinking that some movie-watching, some comfort food (which the kids will be excited about, since it's maraconi and cheese!), some champagne, and some red velvet cupcakes iced with cream cheese frosting, are all in my future.
