For those who are interested, I have 2 out of 3 rolls of film back from Shutterfly, and would be happy to email you the 'invitation' to look at them and my idle comments at your convenience without dumping huge jpegs in your email accounts. The irony that it's positively dumping water here now (massive rain and thunderstorms, whee!) is pretty funny.

Here are a few pics just for fun.

Kristi at Carloway (? need to look at my notes) Broch

The Butt of Lewis

Lonely phonebox

Callanish standing stones

p.s. [livejournal.com profile] licia_north, What does it say that I woke up with "Cry Over You" in my head? Probably that I owe you a letter, you gorgeous thing. :)

My own "idle commentary"...

1) Here's me at the ruins of Azkaban Prison. Took me seven bloody forevers to get that wizard couple to figure out how to use my camera (they kept asking me where they could buy bluejeans like mine).

2) Where the Fianna came ashore and defeated the Picts. They invited me to stay for tea and pillaging, but I'd already paid my cab fare.

3) The Tardis (the Doctor refused to let me take his picture).

4) I think they mean... "up."

:-P

*blush* It says I'm about to have a good day here. ♥

You're so funny!

After two back-to-back staff meetings, I've come back to modify what I wrote for this entry, and even put some indicators as to where I was for the photos. :P

And awwww... I hope you do have a good day! I am, though it's been a bit frenetic from the get-go and it's going to be a very looooooooong day.

Oooooooooh. *stares in awe* And you could actually walk up and touch the standing stones?

Yeah- I did touch them. Technically you're supposed to stay on the path, but, well, I didn't. The gift shop wasn't open yet and there wasn't any staff and I figured those who put them there wouldn't mind. ;)

I'll send you a link to the rest. I need to mail back "1610" to you as well. I enjoyed it, but I'm afraid that my expectations were a bit high for it. Perhaps I'll get some more of her novels.

That poor isolated phonebox- it was at the Port of Ness, at the Butt of Lewis. Just me, a dog who befriended me, and the rain.

It really was funny at that point. Will send you the link!

You're going to have to go a ways to beat Licia's "idle commentary" on your pictures -- the Tardis thing slayed me! Seriously, these are gorgeous. Would love to see more! :)

I must be a philistine...

you have no idea what a tardis is?

[*blinks*]

the tardis is dr who's ship. it is supposed to change appearances so as to fit into its surroundings, but it is broken and is stuck as a london phone booth, exactly as you have pictured....

[*must send thevina a dr. who tape*]

Now I know I'm a philistine.

I've never seen any Dr. Who. Or read it. Whichever.

*cringes*

My scifi was so Ray Bradbury-centric... ack. I'm not geeky enough even to attend PhreakNIC. I feel good that I've seen a few episodes of "The Prisoner," and that's not really scifi.

Yes, please.

Fix me.

address for more pics please! I think it is Carloway Broch (u sent me p'card with a pic of it...unless brochs are like starbucks and there's one on every corner... :P )

no tardis in your life? awwww... I never got into Dr Who in a huge way but I was a Tom Baker follower for several series (esp liked creature feature stories - like "seeds of doom" and the one with the weird grubs...).

No tardis. Ever.

Now I know that if you and Amy and I meet up, I'll be spending time gazing at the sunset while you two chat away. Well, until we all get to talking fanfic. :) And original fic.

(and yes, it is Carloway Broch)

Tom Baker's my fave--that scarf? those google eyes? he's absolutely adorable! I liked him best in...well, the one with the weird grubs, lol. Ark in Space? Robots of Death? Yo, I have no idea which. I just kept waiting for him to trip on his scarf.

*wonders why there's no Tom Baker type among the staff at Hogwart's*

am truly appreciating this geekorama love-in. some folks don't understand that one is a Dr Who follower of a particular vintage (and, therefore, follows a partic Dr). I never could get into that later guy with the garish clothing and large question mark on his tie - I mean, really, wha'happen?

and have any of you caught Tom Baker as the loony sea captain in Blackadder 2? classic old sea dog.

Looking at these has revived that twinge of envy I felt when I first heard that you were going to Scotland. Lovely, atmospheric photos. :-)

Thank you! There's nothing if not heaps of "atmosphere" in the Outer Hebrides. Usually manifesting itself as rain, or drizzle, or odd combination thereof, also with rain. ;)

I'll send you the link to the rest of the pics and you can see the many pictures I took of the sky as I have a cloud fetish. Can't tell you how pleased I am that the USPS is issuing a whole set of 'cloudscape' stamps shortly!!

((hugs))

*misses you*
