The Two Towers- on the big screen

Quite to my surprise and delight, it turns out that a local theatre in Staunton is participating in the showing of the 3 LotR films on the big screen! One of my choir friends, the woman I sang the duet with last Sunday, treated me to the movie as well as dinner beforehand. It was so much fun! I was so caught up in the moment that I was thinking about trying to get some press involved for the final movie next week, and I might go in costume, try to find other Tolkien fans in the region, stuff like that— and I still may, though today I'm feeling overwhelmed by the other things I'm doing this week. This morning I'm about to go spend time working with the daughter of a woman who cleans for my parents every other week- her daughter doesn't really enjoy reading and I think may have some issues causing that (dyslexia, perhaps). I'm also cleared again to try and donate plasma, then literacy class tomorrow morning, and trying to do meal planning with my stepdad for my mom, who is mostly out of pocket this week due to a week-long conference, and then one of my NYC stepsisters and her husband and 1 year old are coming for the weekend. Oh, and there's also a Sonya Sanchez free poetry reading Friday night, hosted by the poetry center where I was working, so I'll definitely be going to that. So
busy, but good things, all around.
And I started writing on a Tolkien fic! I'm going to take my time with it and see how it develops. New culture for me, and a character I'd not given much thought to prior to the prompt request. Hee.
You all? Hope you're having a good mid-week!

Date: 2011-06-22 02:42 pm (UTC)Hey, if I were as pretty and slender as you, with that build and that gown, I'd sure as heck be going in costume. As looks go, I'm Primula Baggins at best, but you're EOWYN or Finduilas, for crying out loud - I think it's almost a crime if you DON'T dress up! :D You are just a lovely piece of work in your costume, and your winning personality just blows the top off the whole thing perfectly, the complete package, so I think you certainly should go to ROTK, have a splendid time, dress in costume, everything and anything. :) I'll be thinking of you at ROTK next week for sure, and I hope you'll be having a spectacular time. :)
Not that what all else you have lined up doesn't sound lovely; it does...but you and I had that special in common, the enjoying movies in costume bit, so that's where I click. ;)
Love ya bunches, sweetie. Hope all goes great today in your part of the world!
*hugs hugs hugs*
Man, you and Amy should come to the Hobbit Moots we're planning for here...dunno yet whether I'll go costumed, but it depends on whether I keep losing the weight and how I feel at the time. (Fifteen freaking pounds off in just a few weeks...man, am I ever happy. At this rate I might actually FIT into my Arwen coronation-arrival dress, that spring green gown, again by then...too bad I didn't get the mourning-gown instead; it would look better for winter!)
We'll see. At any rate, just know I'm thinking of you, good thoughts for health and happiness. :)

Thank you for your thoughts! I've had the Lomelindi in my mind since Tuesday, thinking of us all together and many in costume for the films. What fun that was!
(((hugs)))

Date: 2011-06-23 01:35 am (UTC)sometimes people just haven't found something they like to read - I know 'the infinite wisdom" of our NA education system almost killed my love of reading with the shittyass books they made us read in literature class.

Egads! That's a near travesty! I don't really remember much of what I read in middle school, aside from The Diary of Anne Frank in 7th grade- by high school I remember liking most of what we read, though I read so much independently.
