Cell visualizing, knitting buddy and happy mother's day

For spending money these days I've been trying to donate plasma twice a week at a very nice facility here in H'burg. The issue is that normally my iron is fairly low, so I have to work really damn hard to elevate it. I was lamenting this to one of my WFS friends who suggested (if I was open to the idea) of actually communicating with my red blood cells while meditating or otherwise in a quiet mind space and asking them to release more iron into my system. I believe that stuff like that works, and I must say- I passed the iron test both Thursday and Saturday. So in addition to the usual (loads of spinach, supplements, eating citrus fruit with meat as vitamin C helps with iron absorption), I commune with my red blood cells.


Yesterday my mom and I went to this lovely yarn store/cafe combo in a large historic house in Woodstock, about 35 miles north of here. It's called Fibersmyth and we went there together around this time last year. In the cafe there was another mother/daughter sitting at a round table for four and they invited us to join them. The daughter, probably in her early 30s, was a knitter, and as we showed off our various projects, I noticed she had a Ravelry button on her felted bag. "You're on Ravelry!" I said. "Oh yes." So we talked knitting and swag and projects and authors and all kinds of great stuff during the lunch. I've of course friended her on Ravelry and will look forward to seeing the progression of her projects. Of the many groups she was in, I noticed that we had a love of Miyazake films in common, and also that she (like me) is a Mac girl, and she's a Harry Potter fan. Too bad she doesn't live here, but it was a great conversation. I'm so glad they invited us to join them at their table.

For those who are mothers, who take care of their mothers, have ever been mothers of any type, I hope that you have or have had a lovely day today. Since it's a topic very relevant to my own life and my own past, if you'd care to, send a special compassionate thought to those mothers who are estranged from children and/or stepchildren due to addictions in their lives. Today can be a rough day for a lot of women.

my kids have recently become completely enamoured with miyazake and watched all the films that are ok for their age. it's interesting for me to realise now how many people i know who love them. it's just never pinged my radar before.

i had a mixed mother's day. my family were great and i had a lovely time, but then i phoned my mother and basically she lectured my hubby on why i should give a shit about mother's day cos it's rubbish and then went on to tell me about all the people she's met recently that i grew up with who are now actually successful! :| it's ok though. i played cards on my computer and made noises at the right time and let it all just wash over me. :P

Miyazake has been on my radar for a long time now, starting with My Neighbor Totoro when my then-stepchildren were quite young. It remains probably my very favorite of his, with Princess Mononoke as second, and Spirited Away third.

Glad you were able to have some quiet, alone time on mother's day. Sometimes that really is the best gift!! ♥
