I love LJ

No.

Really.

I just went through my friends list and have read about politics (around the globe); my dear friends (also around the globe); my dear writerly friends, movies, children, books; friends begging for archival resources in regards to texts that I adore even though they are obviously fictional; seen several posts of my own made for my own jollies (e.g. no comments follow them), and then realized that the color for my background that I thought was a lovely shade of olive, really resembles something horrifying similar to pablum/babyfoodgreen.

And yet, I wouldn't give it up for the world.

It (LJ) comes and it goes, and yet, for a writerly/large-hearted person such as myself, I am grateful for this forum. I've been introduced to other writers within different fandoms, and am so very excited by that. It allows me to keep up with several friends who live at distances that are geographically challenging, not to mention those with whom I've met only once IRL or not at all, but it seems as though I have, and feel that for these few decades that I'll be around, it has been worth it to interact with you.

And not just other writers. Costumers, participants in fandom... okay, so it's mainly other writers. But I came to this later in life. Well, not really. As per earlier LJ post, when I discovered that I was the writerly representative for my grade school. But still.

**throws around 'share the love' confetti**

I'm a really good letter writer, and decent beta reader. Really. If any of you ever want to get in touch with me, just let me know. It's thrilling to get hand-penned letters from people I admire so much.

and [livejournal.com profile] fungus_files gets her own category, since she's been putting up with me since 1986.

But all the rest, you are dear to me too. For writing, or knitting, or simply being someone with whom I have felt a kindred spirit.

Awwww...

*basks in the confetti shower*

I think I'll go write you a letter now. In my wacky-ass handwriting, even.

*major hugs*

There's so much I wouldn't know if I'd never met you here. ^_^

Yay! Letter!!! You have absolutely perfect, gorgeous handwriting, BTW.

There's so much I wouldn't know if I'd never met you here.

You too. Y'know, while I was writing this sentimental post last night I had a flashback to cat-sitting at my then-coworker's house last summer, or it must have been fall, but posting a kindof long entry in your LJ about how I had been an art model in college, and your comments back to me. Seems impossible that I've only known you for around a year, when I was first finding my way around Parma.

Now I have your art on my desk. :D

I feel silly writing this...

But what the heck. It's 1AM and I'm wired on cherry coke.

I'm a friend of Cel's, but I have a feeling I "know" you from TORn. I think we've even emailed back and forth about the Album. Toobers and Zots, unless I am very much mistaken. (In which case, we'll just pretend I'm inebriated).

I guess this is as good an opportunity as any to say that I really enjoy your fiction, especially your forays into Potterverse. I truly loved Through Dooms of Love, and am looking forward to reading more of your work.

Cheers! MM

I may well know you from TORn- that was my main hangout for well over a year, and it's how I knew Cel. I don't think you and I have discussed a Toobers and Zots album, though I have played with the toys!!

Oh wow. Post anytime. :) :) :) I'm so glad that you like my writing, especially the HP! Like licia, I feel as though I don't know the ins and outs of it nearly as much as Tolkien, and while I am still writing in the Ardaverse, I've been much more in the vibrant Wizarding world of late, so your comment is all the more wonderful to hear!

Splendid!

My apologies if I've got your TORn identity wrong. We had a Thevina Finduilas there once upon a time and I thought you were she. That poster had submitted a photo ("Crowned with Toobers and Zots") to the TORn Family Album, for which I am the webmistress.

Anyhoo, at TORn I go by Mirkwood Maiden (MM for short), but long ago outgrew the nick. Mistress of Rohan fits me better these days, but there is little point in changing nicks at TORn. I'm seldom there anymore. I am fascinated by all things relating to Rohan... most especially Eomer (and by extension, Karl Urban) ;-).

Take care and enjoy your weekend,

MM

Oh, yes. That's me. Past, present and future. I had forgotten that I'd put that in the TORn family album! I was wearing a lovely crown of Toobers and Zots... yes *blush* would still be me. Within the fandom, there's only one Thevina/Thevina Finduilas, and I am she.

YAY! Mirkwood Maiden! It's all coming back! (which also means that I'll have to get a bit melancholy as it seems that when I dip back into TORn, somebody else I really liked posting with died, which is rather macabre. And I know you were close to Widfara, who I pray for every week. *gets exceedingly cranky about friends who choose not to remain with us*)

Yes, yes- I was a part of that initial album. I think I was part of the Mt. Caradhras [sp] section, which is now all too appropriate, since I have written many Dwarf-centric stories. This is brilliant!

Glad to have you on the flist! I'll need to see what all you're up to, now. I feel that I've horribly neglected Rohan, after being so obsessed rightly interested in it, but I've tried to write what I could. My story "A House Divided" didn't make it to the semi-finals in the Mithrils, but I still think it's one of my best, if you're bored. It focuses on Thengel (Theoden's father) who [per JRRT] basically ditches Rohan when he 'comes of age' and lives in Gondor for 30 years, gets married, sires 3 children born there, and then his alcoholic father dies and he's recalled to Rohan. It's a fascinating time period to me, but that probably doesn't say much.

Mirkwood Maiden! (((massive hugs)))
