thrihyrne: Portland, OR (Wraeththu by me)

Dear flist: I've finished a Wraeththu fic, set in early era Freygard. It's a sequel to one to appear in Storm's compilation, but it's a stand-alone with essentially all OCs. It does reference the first story, but I fill in the gaps so a reader gets the idea of what happened prior to this. Word count is 6090, so not all that long. Mostly plotty and character development. Does anyharone have some time to beta it before I post? I'd be grateful! Just let me know and I'll email it to you.

I am swamped today and possibly tomorrow--trying to finish a complicated character biography for the SWG (Celebrimbor--it has references to Dwarves in it by the way). It's due to be published tomorrow if all goes well, but I wouldn't want to take on a new project until after tomorrow. Rushing to finish this afternoon and then have to be available for possible revisions/corrections. (I do this every month! I never finish anything before the absolute last minute.) So if no one else is able to read it before then, check back with me on Wednesday.

I just got your email and replied! I am so excited!

Fair enough! I don't have any takers right now, and I don't mind waiting. I feel badly enough having posted two Slave Breakers stories that were self-beta'ed, but nobody seems to have caught anything. I'll look forward to your Celebrimbor bio! I had fun thinking about him for the Silmfic I wrote for you. In fact, while I have a short Gimlific to write today or tomorrow, I'm thinking that I'll do some research myself and get back into Dwarvish mindspace to write something set in that same time period as the story I wrote for you, about the Dwarves who met Celebrimbor and were trading with the Elves at that time.

I'm so thrilled that I'm (hope hope) going to get to meet you in person! What a treat! :D

No kidding! I already feel like I really know you, but seeing someone face-to-face really makes the puzzle pieces fall into place, doesn't it?

The Celebrimbor bio should be of interest to you. Unfortunately, I won't be filling in a lot of detail on the Dwarves (having to do the reading though, so we can talk more about that!)--more generalizations about the similarities between the Dwarves and the Noldor.

I feel like I know you, too! Especially after the emails and that one long phone call. I'll definitely look forward to talking with you about your bio. You may be the impetus for me writing a new, longer Dwarf-centric story! I could compete in the MEFAs again, lol.

Um, because it's in the works. This is taken directly from the latest Stormboard digest from the Yahoo group:

Most of my work at the moment is on the new Wraeththu Mythos story collection. I've got a couple of old stories I want to include in it and am finishing them off when I get the time. Even though I've managed to offload most of my Immanion Press editing work to other editors, I still find a lot of my time taken up with IP jobs. Fortunately, not ALL of my time.

Wendy encouraged me to work on a story I've had knocking about for years – in fact I started it before I even began writing Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit. It involves the early Uigenna, and how the tribe split into several factions, including the Varrs and the Kakkahaar. It's been fun creating 'narrative clues' for future relationships between these tribes. The book will have a cover by Ruby, for which she's already produced a rough (though Ruby's interpretation of the word 'rough' might be interpreted as 'finished' by lesser artists, lol). It's beautiful and perfect for the book.

There is still space for a couple more stories, so if anyone is interested in submitting please mail me at editorial (at) immanion-press (dot) com. We're looking for high quality shared world tales rather than stories with too many trappings of fan fiction: original characters and story-lines, with strong plots, set in the early years of Wraeththu.

So I submitted a story which will doubtless need work before the compilation is complete, but in the meantime, I wrote another story with the same characters and locale because I really like them. :) So no compilation yet, but you can believe I'll post about it once it's available!! ♥

Yes indeed! Finally brought it to an end today and will hopefully get at least one person's eyes and virtual red pen on it before posting. And yes, I did just get your email. Thank you! I had "call Persephone this evening" on my to-do list since I'd not heard from you. I'll email a brief note to confirm my cell phone number, but you have it right. :D

(((hugs and reassuring thoughts)))

Hey sweetie, you know you can always ask me. But I don't peruse my f-list all that often, maybe every couple of days.
If Persephone got it, that's great.

Ooooh! I'll send it to you tonight. Persephone won't beta for me, though she enjoys reading the stories in advance. ;) Oshun said she can pick it up as of tomorrow, so I'll just send it to both of you. Thanks so much! I just didn't want to assume…

So glad to have been able to chat with you over the weekend. I'm finally beginning to feel more like my 'usual' self. The healthy version. ;)
