Happy New Year, all who haven't experienced it yet. I'll be spending some time with friends this evening, but to be candid, I really want to curl up and read or write; just not feeling particularly social. I did dress festively today to go to the Oregon Workforce office and then the Opera. It seemed to have worked; I got two decent donations during my 3 1/2 hours of calling, which was a pleasant feeling. I just want to cocoon now, though, but I feel obligated to be out for a little while, plus I need to use a friend's printer so I can mail in the third of three applications I was screened for this morning. Ah, my exciting life. I don't want to mull over this past year, I think I've done enough navel-gazing through the many myriad changes and would rather just Be Here Now as it were, or look forward. I've looked back so often in my life and bemoaned the fact that I don't seem to learn anything, but I suspect I'm being a bit harsh.

You just missed me on AIM as R and I have been out in the freezing but crisp winter night down to the sea wall where you and I walked but a couple of months ago on the first night of the stay in the UK. At midnight, as well as assorted fireworks visible all over the city, all the ships in the harbour sound their horns which, as you can imagine can be heard for miles.

Truly, all best wishes for this coming year - all shall be well ;-)

I got to chat briefly! Hopefully we can catch up a bit more on the 1st, though I'm going to allow myself to sleep in. The walk with R sounds lovely; so amazing to realize that now I can visualize where you went because not that many weeks ago, I was there. That trip is definitely one of the supreme highlights of my year.

I'm with you on the wanting to just stay in and curl up with book or writing.

I debated going out tonight, and then decided I just really did not want to. I decided to just stay in and spend some quiet time.

I spent some time looking back at last years resolutions which made me feel a bit sad at the things I did not accomplish.

Here's to another year of friendship. Getting to know you better has been a highlight.

I ended up having a good time, and even playing a game (Scattergories) that I'd not played in ages. I'd forgotten how much I can enjoy things like word games and board games. I think I should begin trying to incorporate those back into my life. :D

I'll cocoon tomorrow; stay in sweats and drink coffee, type up more of the Tolkien fic (thanks so much for your comments! I'll email off-list, but I'm going to keep the additional scenes and send the final one your way), maybe start on the new Wraeththu, order my holiday postcards, write a letter, or just rest.

I was glad to get home safely!! The landlord's cat was scratching my closed door to get in and now is sleeping on my bed, and I'm going to treat myself to some online fic before curling into bed for a nice long sleep.
