I must apologize for being less verbose than usual. There are so many things going on and I'm spending a lot of time at two beloved friends' house, and I admit I hog their computer. I brought mine over tonight to help, but they don't have wifi. I don't have a laptop. :headdesk: I can set my desktop up in 5 minutes flat thanks to my summer trip, so at some point maybe I'll schelp my stuff to a free wifi area and look like a dork and sit for a few hours. The problem is that things change on the internet so quickly.

I'm doing pretty well internally, as in, being at peace with myself. That said, I have some major changes coming up that need to be coming up quickly, and hindering those changes includes a huge winter storm coming. Not to be so obtuse, but I need to move, and finding an appropriate next place might not be as quick and simple as I'd wished. I don't have the luxury of taking a long time, so it is rather a stressor.

Still looking for a full-time job with benefits, but enjoying being at the opera in the capacity that I have. I could be totally without work, and that's not the case, so I'm very grateful for that.

I MISS YOU GUYS. I know that I do email some of you and then I complain about not being able to keep up with email and LJ and Facebook (which I really just drop in on; I have no loyalty to it like I do LJ). I want to call a bunch of people, but have to conserve my minutes so I'm restricted to particular time periods. Still, once those periods hit, believe you me, I'll be calling! I feel more and more isolated from some parts of fandom and fan friends, and it makes my heart ache… but there are some pressing personal things I need to deal with which must take precedence, as much as I'd love to soar back into everything online.

The Holidays. What holidays?? I have actually designed some cool cards for this year, but I probably won't be sending them until the new year. So if you haven't heard from me by now and you usually have, please don't feel slighted. I will have them coming, but I have to move and OMG it's freaking me out because I'm spending a lot of time with these particular friends and that's important for me to do. I could spiral too quickly otherwise, and I really can't afford to do that.

I'm behind on my reading! Except that the fandoms I'm most interested in right now don't have a lot of stories. I'll be looking forward to Yuletide on the 25th, and really need to get cracking on my fic for the challenge at [livejournal.com profile] raythoo and my slashy santa fic. The plot for that is beginning to percolate.

A serious winter storm is scheduled to hit here, or at least a major Snow Event (like 6-8 inches) probably tomorrow afternoon and Sunday could be really bad. One never knows. I do hope to attend a Lessons & Carols service tomorrow; my holidays wouldn't be complete without one. Actually, it sounds as though there may already be 6 inches on the ground by the time of the service. That wouldn't keep me away, but there's supposed to be frozen rain following the snow, making for a nightmare, especially here.

I hope so, too! We have some serious wind going on right now and had *beautiful* snow falling last night, with big flakes drifting by. Today it's a bit more serious, but the wind is just blowing snow around right now. Today we're scheduled for snow, but then it's "snow to ice" and then tomorrow- "freezing rain." Which will then lie on top of the snow. :P

ugh! i love the thought of snow. my experiences of it have been limited. but of course, that's because i am not familiar with all these variations and the less pleasant aspects of dealing with the reality.

*hugs* Just sent you a card/letter - I was mucking around with the letter for way too long, hence its rather late journey States-side. Not sure if it'll make it to you (at your old address! eek) before xmas, but will be there soon. xxx

Thank you, matey! I haven't fully decided on a place yet; saw what I think could be a great place, but then my friend here pointed out it's an isolated room (it's also a basement room, but it does have two big lights- I'm not light sensitive and can buy lamps) and might 'feel' too much like where I've been. I think the fact that it's brand new and in a house with MUCH better ambiance and a landlord with whom I already feel more comfortable are all good signs. I'll have my mail forwarded no matter what. :)

I hope so, too! But it's looking pretty, well, craptastic. The snow isn't bad, but "snow to ice" and then "freezing rain"... Not so happy! If I had chains, it'd probably be okay, but I'm not buying chains just to attend. ;)

Gonna try this again, the computer just ate my comment.

Glad to know you are with trusted friends at this time, and I know that with them there is peace for you at this time. YAY!!!!

I'm hopping you find somewhere new to move in relatively short amount of time. If the vibe in a place is not to your well-being then you need to leave.

I was an Episcopalian for over ten years, and I have no idea what 'Lessons in Carols' is. How sad is that?

Peace

I am with trusted friends; I'm just hogging their internet!! Plus one of them has a son who is going to be coming back over at some point and I'm currently hanging out in his room. That said, they love me and my landlord isn't a maniacal person- he's a massage therapist, for goodness' sake. He knows I'm trying to find a new place and can understand that I'm being hindered by a Snow Event and Major Winter Storm™

I'm sorry you don't know about L&C! I hadn't heard about it until I went to Sewanee; I think it had a real resurgence about 25 years ago or so. The best known one is sung at King's College, Cambridge, Christmas Eve. It's broadcast live on NPR and is so, so gorgeous. There's a more full explanation of the service here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Lessons_and_Carols) at Wikipedia.

Peace and joy to you!

L&C sounds lovely! I'd never heard of it either. I hope you can get to it, but be careful in the bad weather!

Ooops— I never replied to you! As it turned out I didn't get to the L&C service, but I think they were all canceled anyway. Thankfully now [livejournal.com profile] leboyfriend was able to save the Kings College Cambridge L&C service from this year and I've downloaded it from him. I'll be able to put it on my iPod if I want and sit and knit!

(((hugs to you)))

I hope the weather isn't too much of an obstacle! I'm sending good vibes your way regarding the move and the associated details.

I'm so glad you have some friends close enough geographically to spend time with now. *hands you virtual hot chocolate*

Lots of love to you!

Hey there! I missed this post, my apologies. The move has now taken on a whole new fabulous turn which I'm sure I'll post about, if I haven't already. Thankfully the hard part was packing up and whittling down when I was in Virginia. I've only picked up a bed frame, computer desk and desk chair since I've moved here, so moving shouldn't be too traumatic. It's the snow on the side streets which is so hard to deal with!!!

(((massive hugs and love)))

I would have sent you a card, but I don't have your current address, and you obviously missed my post trolling for addresses. If you don't mind a late one, you could email me yours: brumeux77 at gmail dot com

I'd be happy to! I missed a good 10 days in there doing stupid things, so yes, I probably did. My current address is fine; I'll get things forwarded once I have a move-in date, which will be in the next few days. I'll email you off-list! Glad you're back safely from your trip.

Lessons and Carols sounds like a very cool tradition, I enjoyed reading about it! Not sure if I'd heard of it before. ;p
