So much going on...

I must apologize for being less verbose than usual. There are so many things going on and I'm spending a lot of time at two beloved friends' house, and I admit I hog their computer. I brought mine over tonight to help, but they don't have wifi. I don't have a laptop. :headdesk: I can set my desktop up in 5 minutes flat thanks to my summer trip, so at some point maybe I'll schelp my stuff to a free wifi area and look like a dork and sit for a few hours. The problem is that things change on the internet so quickly.
I'm doing pretty well internally, as in, being at peace with myself. That said, I have some major changes coming up that need to be coming up quickly, and hindering those changes includes a huge winter storm coming. Not to be so obtuse, but I need to move, and finding an appropriate next place might not be as quick and simple as I'd wished. I don't have the luxury of taking a long time, so it is rather a stressor.
Still looking for a full-time job with benefits, but enjoying being at the opera in the capacity that I have. I could be totally without work, and that's not the case, so I'm very grateful for that.
I MISS YOU GUYS. I know that I do email some of you and then I complain about not being able to keep up with email and LJ and Facebook (which I really just drop in on; I have no loyalty to it like I do LJ). I want to call a bunch of people, but have to conserve my minutes so I'm restricted to particular time periods. Still, once those periods hit, believe you me, I'll be calling! I feel more and more isolated from some parts of fandom and fan friends, and it makes my heart ache but there are some pressing personal things I need to deal with which must take precedence, as much as I'd love to soar back into everything online.
The Holidays. What holidays?? I have actually designed some cool cards for this year, but I probably won't be sending them until the new year. So if you haven't heard from me by now and you usually have, please don't feel slighted. I will have them coming, but I have to move and OMG it's freaking me out because I'm spending a lot of time with these particular friends and that's important for me to do. I could spiral too quickly otherwise, and I really can't afford to do that.
I'm behind on my reading! Except that the fandoms I'm most interested in right now don't have a lot of stories. I'll be looking forward to Yuletide on the 25th, and really need to get cracking on my fic for the challenge at

A serious winter storm is scheduled to hit here, or at least a major Snow Event (like 6-8 inches) probably tomorrow afternoon and Sunday could be really bad. One never knows. I do hope to attend a Lessons & Carols service tomorrow; my holidays wouldn't be complete without one. Actually, it sounds as though there may already be 6 inches on the ground by the time of the service. That wouldn't keep me away, but there's supposed to be frozen rain following the snow, making for a nightmare, especially here.

Date: 2008-12-20 03:23 pm (UTC)Glad to know you are with trusted friends at this time, and I know that with them there is peace for you at this time. YAY!!!!
I'm hopping you find somewhere new to move in relatively short amount of time. If the vibe in a place is not to your well-being then you need to leave.
I was an Episcopalian for over ten years, and I have no idea what 'Lessons in Carols' is. How sad is that?
Peace

Date: 2008-12-20 04:59 pm (UTC)I'm sorry you don't know about L&C! I hadn't heard about it until I went to Sewanee; I think it had a real resurgence about 25 years ago or so. The best known one is sung at King's College, Cambridge, Christmas Eve. It's broadcast live on NPR and is so, so gorgeous. There's a more full explanation of the service here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Lessons_and_Carols) at Wikipedia.
Peace and joy to you!

Date: 2008-12-28 09:42 am (UTC)Lessons and Carols sounds like a very cool tradition, I enjoyed reading about it! Not sure if I'd heard of it before. ;p
