At the last stop
Jul. 1st, 2008 08:12 amI'm in McMinnville, OR, visiting with a grade school friend, her amusingly snarky husband, and three endearing children. Today I'm going into Portland to meet with at least 2 of the people I'd been communicating with on craigslist about housing, and maybe do some touristy stuff. I'll have my car, though, and don't know about park 'n ride kind of options. I also need to get my hands on a good map with their public transportation.
But, in essence, I'm here! I had a lovely conversation with
elfscribe5 last night before she heads off onto adventures of her own, and she asked if I had any overarching thoughts/summaries of all that I've experienced on this trip. I think it will take a while for it all to settle in, but in essence, what I've been reminded of is that there are kind people everywhere, and I'm exceedingly fortunate to have so many affectionate, caring people in my own life.
I'll post again in the next couple of days and let everyone know about my housing situation. Cally (my friend here) and I and her kids may also go and tour the Tillamook Cheese factory and visitor's center. I had some of their chocolate and peanut butter ice cream last night- they make ice cream in addition to cheese. Mmmmmmmmmm. Yummy.
Thank you all for your thoughts and safe travel wishes and for being with me every mile along the way. I appreciate you all so very, very much. ♥
