thrihyrne: Portland, OR (resourceful eowyn for celandineb)

It's 8:40 on a Monday morning. Pouring down rain. I'm having a fabulous start to my day and week. :) I've swept and mopped and vacuumed all of the downstairs; cleaned the bathroom yesterday, mowed on Saturday. I've come to peace with my Grand Conversion Process of getting The Persian Boy from a book on cassette to CD (even Recorded Books only has it as cassettes. Oh well.). I've been cleaning this morning to a fabulous 80s mix that [livejournal.com profile] celandineb made for me about 3 years ago— both of my roommates were gone by the time I got out of the shower at 7:20. I'm newly invigorated about my Wraeththu fic, and the powerful final chapter and epilogue, and I've even developed a positive stopgap measure for a temporary fix for the not totally pathetic (but not great, either) website I put together for my parents for the campground they have and run, kind of minimally. Even if my satellite internet is still crappy, it just can't prohibit me from having a good morning. It's not even 9 o'clock! Beta'ed a 22 page beginning to a friend's Wraeththu fic, a sequel to a story I'd beta'ed for her after the fact, and that's been a very positive experience. I think I just needed to experience my own inner funk to its fullest. Not sure that it's totally gone, but hey. It's lifted today. The grass is so very verdant and lush against the rain, and the hills are greening up as well. April has been my cruelest month this year, and even that sits well, nesting in my soul.

Hope that you all are doing well. I'm still somewhat on retreat within myself, and the internet situation really better improve or I'm going to need to talk about this ridiculous contract if the satellite has been so over-sold as to make our speed slow to the crawl of dialup, but that's just something else which can be dealt with logically. :)

So good to hear you're perking up. It brings a smile to my face to read about it.

I'll take the perky days as they come. :) Happy to be a sounding board for you any time you'd care to email, too! Should you wish to, that is. No pressure. Thanks for dropping a line.

{{hugs}} Glad you're still enjoying that mix -- I made a copy for myself and listen to it sometimes too. *g*

And yay for a good start to the week!

It's a great mix, especially when cleaning!! It is a good start, and I spoke with tech support for my satellite and feel as though I have a much better handle on what's going on. That combined with the tech support I do now is helping me to feel as though I have a wider base of knowledge; always helpful for an analytical person like me. :)

Fair enough! Since I'm at work for so many hours a day, and usually so in my head about one fic or another or some other alternate universe, I'm not nearly as affected by the weather as many people are. Especially on weekdays; I'm going to be in a controlled environment for 9-10 hours anyway, so it seems kind of irrelevant. Very Vulcan of me. ;)

It's okay about the letter— I don't expect people really to write back, I just enjoy the process of writing. I won't turn letters away, of course, but please don't feel pressured. ♥

*hugshugshugs* Do you know how much I'm missing girl-chats? I haven't had one for more than a year. Really quite tragic. Most of the reason is because I haven't made it to Bris since Dec last year, and even on that visit, it was rushed and bereft of cosy chats. A planned Qld trip in July has now been cancelled and I'm aiming for late Nov...

Hugs to you too, sweetie! I was fortunate to have a long chat with [livejournal.com profile] eccequambonum, but my in-person heart to hearts are definitely on an annual occasion anymore. I do have a sense as to what you mean; it's just that my bases of people aren't in any one particular location (well, Bris, of course!), so the occurrences are even less frequent anymore. Glad for LJ, the occasional email and letters! :)

I got your letter. Thank you so much! It was needed. I will email you in a day or two. What company owns Persian Boy? Curious. I may have to mention something to someone that if they should reissue in CD loads of people would be thrilled.

Aw… glad to have been timely, for once! The Persian Boy with Aviva Skell as the narrator is by Recorded Books. I even checked their website and may well create an account just to go in and put in my several cents' worth about it being Mary Renault's most popular book (at least according to Amazon.com), "Alexander" being so obviously influenced by it, etc. etc. It would be great if they would release it on CD. Still, I'm finding my own way, and that works for now. Next I'll need to learn how to use GarageBand so I can make tracks at each of the chapters and edit out the "please turn the cassette over" comments. ;)
