I don't know how this has come to pass, but three of my dearest friends are celebrating birthdays today. So, to [livejournal.com profile] llembas, [livejournal.com profile] risiepookie and [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins, a very, very
    HAPPY
    BIRTHDAY

to each of you!!! If I become too public about the impact you've each made on me, I'll just get sappy and over the top, so I'm going to resist. I hope that you've each received the small mathoms I've sent to commemorate your coming into this world.

Wolfie, since you've had an especially rough week of it, I've written a little something for you.

This wee Ron/Charlie vignette is set as a short epilogue to one of stories in Wolfie's Stormfront universe, a brief add-on to 'By Definition', a story I've always enjoyed as I love the idea of Ron seeking out Charlie's advice and companionship during what's a very difficult time for him. My vignette isn't explicitly adult, but it does have implications of perhaps incestuous-y overtones, so I'll rate it R and put it behind a cut. To most fully understand this little fic, do read his story first to understand the environment in which this is set.

My beloved Wolfie, I'm so glad you're a friend to me, and that you have your own soulmate to be with you during both the light and the dark.

Title: Pace Tua ('with your peace')
Rating: R (for implied slightly more-than-brotherly Ron/Charlie); Ron is 14, so heed that as well. Set during GoF.
Word Count: 384
Summary: Family means everything.

An unexpected warmth and movement tugged Charlie from sleep. Blinking blearily into the dark confines of his tent, his blood felt dawn brooding, clothing itself to claim the night for day an hour or so from now. The body draped half over his back snuffled and resumed his open-mouthed, light snore. The sound reminded Charlie of a baby Snegbog first trying to belch fire. He didn't want to wake Ron, not yet, so he shifted only slightly to ease his arm, still sore from the burns he'd received the day before from the malcontent Horntail. The spongy length resting at the top of his arse, neither fully hard nor flaccid, caused a rueful smile to settle on to Charlie's lips. He remembered being fourteen: treacherous, inappropriate steel between his legs and the faces of the young men he'd imagined at the time when he'd relieved the ache with his own hand.

He loved Ron: as brother, protector, confidante, guide. Tonight he'd given shelter as well, a chest to cry into and then curl up against, a ginger bower into which self-defeat and ridicule weren't allowed. Fraternal affection, however, was made manifest in kisses of exploration; warm hands had danced over taut fabric in an enclave where guilt and shame had no place or meaning.

"You'll outshine us all, little bro," Charlie whispered into the canvas cocoon, hearing a nearby rumble as the Ridgeback snorted in sleep. Behind him, Ron's arm eased tighter, and then slackened, his body heeding unconscious movement. Charlie shifted his head on their shared pillow, just enough to feel Ron's hot breath brand the back of his neck with each slow exhalation. Ron was his favourite. Perhaps, ultimately, he was the most potent in the Weasley mix, but without as much volatility that seemed to trouble the rest of them, even Percy.

As he settled back into his half-doze, setting his internal alarm for the sun's first light, Charlie lay his palm on the back of Ron's surprisingly long fingers. He believed he'd consoled his youngest brother well. He'd welcomed him with open arms, and hopefully gifted him with a night of untroubled rest. Comforted by those thoughts, Charlie allowed his eyes to close, his own heart slowing to match the peaceful rhythm beating in the beloved body behind him.

Hiya, well happy birthday to the birthday-peebs and how cool that you wrote this for Woolfie. I loved it! :-) Not only tender and rather warmly sexy but also, in so few words, expressing how Ron is 'different' to the rest of the Weasleys. Good stuff!

I'm so glad you enjoyed! And I'm especially pleased that you liked the characterization. Wolfie set it up and I just continued on for a wee bit. Thanks for reading!

My dear, I can't begin to tell you how much you made my day yesterday!!!

I got home from work (late, as usual) and the most beautiful arrangement of flowers was waiting on the stairs for me. Though I certainly wasn't expecting it at all, I somehow knew it was from you- I suppose the lovely purples and mauves tipped me off. (I've taken pictures that I'll email to you.) You truly spoiled me with the flowers and the fantastic card, which also came in the mail yesterday. It was too late to call you and thank you, and then I got caught up in my internal musings before I could send you an email, but THANK YOU so much!!! Oh, and thank you for the v-gift! It was so lovely to come home from dinner tonight and have it sitting in my inbox. ::loves::

I don't know what I ever did to deserve a friend as wonderful, warm, sweet, and genuine as you, but I know I'm grateful for your place in my life and your friendship.

Thank you again, so very much! ::huge, thankful hugs:: So much love to you, my dear friend!

(BTW, the ficsnip for Wolfie is fantastic! I think he'll really enjoy it- I definitely did!)

I'm so glad the flowers got there on time and that they were pretty! I told them I wanted them to be vivid and bright, and I'm pleased to hear that they were. The gratitude goes both ways, m'dear. Happy, happy birthday. Thank you for sharing so much about your life, and your amazing triumphs.

Glad you enjoyed the wee ficlet, too!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the little continuation; hoped it would send a few people your way for your fic as well. :)

I know it's been a rough time for you of late, and I wish my hugs were far more tactile and far less virtual. You're embedded in my heart.

This is beautiful! It gave me that cozy, all warm and safe feeling as I read it. I felt like I was in that 'canvas-cocoon' with them. [heh] The vague implications made it so sexy. *sigh*

Thank you for your kind words! It was meant to be cozy and comforting, and I'm so glad that that part of it came across. Wolfie gave the great backstory, and I just wanted to add a wee bit to it. Thanks for your comments. Yeah, Charlie's pretty divine. :)
