More ups than downs
Nov. 21st, 2011 07:44 pmToday's interview was rather a downer; the job was quite misrepresented to my mind, and I'm not at all sorry that I didn't get a follow up call to continue what was going to be a 3-part interview process. Urg. On the plus side, I got a fair amount of writing done on my Gimli story while on buses and trains and hanging out in a bookstore because I got out to the suburban location a good hour early. Another major plus was my lunch with
evannichols yesterday. We had scrumptious fish and chips (and they were even healthy! in some kind of healthy rice oil or somesuch!) and a wonderful conversation. I'm so happy to be back in a place where I actually have friends within a 10 mile radius. Not only that, but this evening my roommate included me in going out to dinner with her and her brother (visiting until Friday) for Vietnamese soup (something I've never had) as a thank you for picking up super inexpensive tickets to the Symphony tonight since I have an Oregon Trail card and can get tickets for $5 apiece. She paid for them, but this was my second attempt to get them as my buses were late last Friday and my window of time wasn't large enough. And I got my Yuletide assignment! ♥ I'm quite excited and will be picking up the book I'll be drawing my material from from the library tomorrow. I wonder if I can re-read it super quickly or just skim
Saturday night I had another nice long conversation with my gentleman friend in NZ. Tonight I'm going to hopefully get my wireless router all set up and then will be able to Skype away with video. Amazing how far the technology has come. I remember saving up to call my friends in Australia on their birthdays, and now I can chat with someone across the world and it not cost me a dime. Phenomenal.
