[livejournal.com profile] shelliz14 has joined the LJ crowd. She who was formerly known as "college best friend" now has her own LJ, and I couldn't be more pleased. We went to Sewanee, The University of the South together in a more gentle time known as the late 80's when girls wore Laura Ashley and people left their cars unlocked and we learned all kinds of stuff in a liberal arts school on top of a mountain.

Now we're a bit older, perhaps a smidge more jaded, and she isn't into fandom like I am, but that's okay. History means a lot in a friendship, and that we have.

Welcome!! :D

A few things of note that won't mean much to many.

~My second violet died.

~I'm wearing the gorgeous bracelet sent by [livejournal.com profile] shelliz14 and going to the laundromat with two loads of laundry.

~I have way too many stories to write, and need to get on them, but it was just so nice to luxuriate in time at home, alone….

~Our trash wasn't picked up.

~It's a good day to be someone who loves overcast, grey, cloudy, on-the-verge-of-malevolent weather. Because that's what we have. Don't have to wear sunscreen.

~I'll probably be watching either the EE version of RotK or PoA tonight with the kids. Or Fruits Basket. They've been turned on to manga by their dad, but I think we're saving that for New Year's Eve. Boy howdy. Maybe I can get them interested in Firefly, but it might not be appropriate. No. Wait. What am I saying? My 11 year old stepson has watched "Zoolander" 14 times or something like that. Talk about inappropriate for his age. "Dodgeball", on the other hand- very funny and clever.

~Food. Should think about food. But need to get Ursula LeGuin's A Wizard of Earthsea as a book on tape so I can work on [livejournal.com profile] twilights_abode's belated Christmas gift.

~In my next life, I want to come back as one of my own cats. We gave them new "mice" to play with, which they do, but mostly they sleep. Despite acknowledging that my totem animal is *blush* a raccoon (nocturnal by nature, very clever with their hands, and always going through other people's stuff), I'd love to curl up on yummy, self-shredded furniture every day.

~In my next life, I'll be Philip Pullman, and come up with what are some of the most amazing books written. Again, I've given far too much thought to what my daemon would be: a raccoon. For the same reasons listed above.

Leaving now. :P
