Thanks to the extraordinary [livejournal.com profile] fungus_files, [livejournal.com profile] cim_halfling and [livejournal.com profile] snottygrrl, I have this sequel to 'Magic Immunity' finally finished. I owe them massive amounts of virtual love for their attention to this. I hope you all enjoy; the link is to Skyehawke since the story is over 30 pages and won't fit as one post. Feedback's lovely. I'll be posting it to the usual R/D LJ communities as well, and it's on my website now. It's amazing what one can get done while unemployed. :P

Summary: The boys go to NYC so Draco can attend a culinary school, and when family tragedy strikes, their relationship is tested to its limit. Drama, romance, some smut.
Rating: NC-17
Length: a little over 17,000

Oh yay! I had to go back and reread Magic Immunity because I only vaguely remembered it, (of course it was the smutty parts I remembered..something about Ron and some boots. *facepalms*) Had forgotten how good that story was.

Really enjoyed the sequel too! Reading it makes me want to read an entire wizarding USA novel. I love that they call muggles something else...and the author's note about the word you used had me laughing.

LOL!! Glad that Ron wearing nothing but his dragonskin boots was memorable. :g: And I'm thrilled that you liked both it and the new one. [livejournal.com profile] fungus_files had hinted that it would have been nice if I'd included more of Ron's thoughts while in Chinatown, so maybe I can incorporate that in a future fic. But for now, I'm so pleased that you liked the 'covite' term; I just figured if the British called non-magical folk something that Americans would've done the same. Thanks for the comments!!

Sorry to be so belated to your wonderful commentary- yes, he ended up in that Snape vignette. I should think about them being parents; it'd be fun to further integrate this particular line of universe within the "Cartography" series and keep George & Remus around for comic relief. Hmmmmm.

Me too. How is it that even when my mind's whirling so fast about all of the RL stuff that I still have 3 fanfic stories and 2 original fic stories percolating? Somebody slow down my brain, please...

I didn't realize it was a sequel, but I just read this, loved it, and sent you an email (that might seem strange, sequel-questioning wise, lol).

So now I have to go find the first story. Unless universes have shifted and I alread read it and forgot. Eee.

This one is amazing, though!

Yes you did, and I need to send you a proper reply back, since you brought me to tears. If ever I'm feeling poorly, I can read that email and feel so much better about things, truly. :loves:

LOL!! It could happen; it was "Magic Immunity" and I wrote it earlier this year. There *was* a sequel, "Scattering Stars Like Dust" which needed help before I posted it, but then I'd already posted it, so I ended up writing this to sortof rectify the situation. As though that really matters, but it did to me. I hated having somewhat shoddy fic out there. :P

I am so glad that this story affected you so. I do feel that I should get serious about my original fic, though- you and [livejournal.com profile] llembas are so inspiring that way, with the absolutely astoundigly creative stories you've created from your own tremendous minds.

And I really do want to curl up in your head at some time, or heart, if only I could. Even if just for a little while.

Maybe I could just meet you in person.

so glad you posted this! after I read the entry a few down, I was thinking "o no! I've been too harsh and put you off it entirely!". I'm sorry my comments were so terse in the beta - really wanted to get it to you before I left for Bris (otherwise I'd still be doing it now!).

haven't had a chance to read through the final version properly but had a quick skim on skyehawke - I think the edits you did have worked great and I do so like the resolution with R/D + Xave.

and you aren't unemployed. you may be unwaged, but you're creatively employed. :)

No, no, no… your comments were all entirely appropriate- that was all I meant to convey. The story needed some major overhauling in a few sections, and thanks to you and lyric and Nancy, it was improved so much. I feel nothing but gratitude that you take the time that you do to beta for me when I have stories long enough to grant that.

And thank you so much for your last sentence. I think I'm going to have to put that in a glorious font on funky paper and post it here by my bed at mom's house. I am most certainly creatively employed.

((((((gratuitous, grateful hugs)))))))

p.s. did you make your icon? I even got a Photoshop book from the library but haven't tried making any other icons of my own.

p.s. did you make your icon?

yep, that's one of mine. :)

playing with icons is such fun. incredibly time-consuming and can sometimes totally not work (I've worked on something for about an hour, then pulled the plug on it cos it wasn't looking right) but very fun. you should feel free to make requests if there's something you're after for an icon. it's nice to make things for ppl. I've been thinking of making you a better George icon now that I have a few more techniques up my sleeve.
