Three days before deadline, my [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas fic has been emailed. Thanks to the few of you who've been privy to it to beta and give me guidance.

My [livejournal.com profile] bestmates_xmas is well underway, probably 2/3 or 3/4 done. That's a happy thing. If all goes well, I'll have the next several evenings to work on it, but no way tonight as I still haven't packed. I haven't even looked to see what the weather will be like, or where my hotel and training place are. Guess that'll happen later tonight...

Weather in Houston for Thursday/Friday: highs in the low 80s, lows in the mid 60s, mostly sunny.

Can't help you on the location of your hotel, though. *g*

Thanks, sweetie! I've now done massive amounts of research, including where I'll be, where the free wifi is (or isn't- at the bloody airports, argh), where restaurants are, etc. etc. Feeling much less panicked.

Free airport wifi seems to be mostly at smaller airports; I remember seeing signs for it in Boise, for instance, but not in e.g. Dallas. Unfortunately. But at least you can write, right? Hope your laptop is small and not too heavy...

Yeah; I can write, and knit; I have a book and I'll buy a Vanity Fair. It's my magazine treat when I fly, lol. My laptop isn't the lightest in the world, but it's okay. I'll just schlep it in my backpack for ease of investigation. :P I've not flown post-liquid container crap, so this will be interesting.

Thank you!
And y'know, I could watch your icon for hours.... ::happy sigh::

And hey! I'm going to Houston! There may be yummy men in cowboy hats, now that I think about it, lolol.

Yes, you and me both. However, I doubt I'll actually get out to do any line dancing or anything like that, though I've enjoyed it in the past. Another person on my flist from Houston let me know where the more artsy/gay areas are, but I suspect I'll just curl up in my hotel room and work on my H/R. I think I'll also take GoF with me to watch on my laptop.

Most excellent idea. You could find a nice gay coffee shop and work on H/R/.

Take pics of the cowboys though:)

I'm thrilled to have been able to 'preview' your ficathon stories! A treasure, really!

Sounds like the weather will be awesome (well, for someone like me, anyway). Good time to write, I hope, provided that there isn't a great deal of peripheral obligations that go along with the conference...

Don't panic, luv! Flying is fun! Well, at least the taking off part! *g*

****massive hugs****

Well, your insight truly is invaluable, and so very much appreciated.

Nope. In fact, it's not a conference, it's a training seminar. There are only 3 of us and an instructor. See here (http://lodestone.com/training/ClassDetails.cfm?ClassId=1028), the Houston class.

For you, maybe. Actually, I quite enjoy it once I'm on the plane and we've taken off. After seeing "Pushing Tin" I really do get a bit worried about the whole air traffic controlers thing, but I'm also unwilling to live a life lived in fear. And statistics are on my side.

(((hugs back)))
