My LJ mindmap
Aug. 17th, 2005 11:55 amI saw this over in
celandineb's LJ, and while I didn't want to pay and get the pretty colors and whatnot, I did sign up for a free one. As I understand it, the larger the person's name, the more common interests and people you have in common. I haven't updated my interests in ages, but I still like my new map. :D
And as part of my Getting Me Back In Shape regimen, I'll have you all know I swam 30 laps this morning, thoroughly appreciating my new goggles and swim cap to keep my hair out of my face. I'm off for an actual health evaluation at 1 o'clock, then I'm badgering this public radio station about their job opening because, well, I'm going to have some serious expenses coming up and I don't want to blow through all of my savings. And I'd be good in this position, even if it doesn't pay a whole lot. It'd also be walking distance from the house.
Map's below

Date: 2005-08-18 09:32 pm (UTC)I followed up with the job and they should be culling their applicant pool for a short list next week and begin interviewing at the end of the month. There's another position that I'm going to apply for as well; more analytical than this one, but it also pays better. Need to write a cover letter, though, first.

Follow up is important. Another thing I've learned that employers appreciate from potential employees is a thank you note for interviewing them. Simple things like that can make the difference.
BTW we have a neighbor in our condo complex who reminds me of you: slim, redheaded and fair. She's a single mom, and always on the go (probably one of the things that keeps her so slim). ;)

And I expect to hear that you're healthy as...well, whatever the epitome of superb health is. :D

Date: 2005-08-18 09:35 pm (UTC)Oh, yes. And I'm a genius at thank you notes, if I say so myself. I had a friend tell me I should go into business supplying thank yous for beleagured brides who just don't want to write them. :P
And yay for your new condo person!! I love having doppelgangers.
And I expect to hear that you're healthy as
Well, my stuff is mostly average; need to work on upper-body strength, and my flexibility is fabulous. Body fat wasn't too bad either, reassuringly. Tomorrow I'll learn how to use some of the machines and follow it up with lap swimming. It's a bit monotonous, but the water is soothing and I can let my mind wander for a half hour.
