Ouch! But, warranted.
Jan. 21st, 2004 04:59 pmWell, received my second decline at HASA. The few comments that I did receive are, in fact, well-warranted. I put the story in because I wanted there to be more Legolas-and-Gimli-as-friends, but in truth, even I know that the story ends kindof abruptly and the two parts don’t segue together very well at all. It wasn’t ready, and for that, I’m glad it was declined. This is also reassuring to me that people who are reviewing are being thoughtful and actually analyzing the stories in the pool. Granted, I only received three reviews that had any comments whatsoever (not counting one which said "This was very well-written, but it seemed somehow incomplete", which, in truth, completely sums up what is wrong with it!), so perhaps I shouldn’t get my hopes up. Maybe people are just being lazy.
Anyway, it’s nice to have it back, and I can put it aside for a month or two, work on my other Dwarf and Elf interaction story which has heaps of potential (I even had ideas come to mind during our staff meeting this morning, LOL!), and then come back and give "Fathers and Sons" a major overhaul.
Ack! Must go pick up my stepson!

Date: 2004-01-22 06:39 pm (UTC)Well, thank you. Peer review is an interesting thing, though, especially when you don't really know who is doing the reviewing. It was a bit of a shock due to how many declines I got, but when I thought about it, they were right. Well-written, but incomplete. So... I'll get back to it in a bit!!
