Part of my weekend was quite challenging, but it improved when I went to [livejournal.com profile] evannichols's Saturday evening. We had a languorous morning complete with coffee and online Boggle in bed Sunday morning. We don't actually play against each other; we both see different words and one of us types them in. Much more fun that way. In the afternoon we went to pick up [personal profile] sanguinity and [personal profile] grrlpup to go and see The Avengers and socialize prior to the movie. It proved challenging to socialize too much, but it was still fun to go out with them and see the movie as a group. Today I returned home around 7:30 a.m. and spent much of the day job hunting, cleaning up email and running a couple of errands. When I'd maxed out after applying for six or seven positions, I treated myself to this really fabulous BBC 2-disc series, The Incredible Human Journey. I have an ever-increasing number of plastic bags of reclaimed yarn as part of my newest project and should probably focus on some other aspects of the project. But it's fun and oddly cathartic to sit and watch stuff (especially a very well-done series) and dismantle sweaters. I'm also about to finish The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes— And Why. I keep getting great books that are referenced by other authors, or people who show up on John Stewart's The Daily Show. How he didn't come into my world until spending more time with [livejournal.com profile] evannichols is beyond me. Well, I only had cable for those brief few months last spring. That's probably why. My equilibrium has returned, though in my mother's most recent weekly email update she revealed that my maternal grandmother (who's been living outside of Seattle for several years now with my aunt serving as primary contact) is in hospice. I knew she wasn't doing well, but didn't know that was the situation. It could be that Evan will meet my family at a funeral, which wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for. :(

Oh, and in an unrelated element, I'd received an email from former roommate Julia's phone carrier as though I was going to pay it. I called customer service and was reassured that I'd not hear from them again. Well, I got another email from them referencing her phone account! I just deleted it. Not my problem and certainly not my phone. :P
