Well, unless one is obsessing over the minutiae of canon and taking a couple of fly-by sentences between Pell and Phade and writing half a post to give that a backstory, you'd have no reason to think about what might have brought along their animosity. ;) Vaysh doesn't seem to wield actual power on Thiede's behalf, and jealousy didn't seem to work, so a spurned but still intrigued har is what formed in my mind. Isn't Oxnard a great name? I love my harish names. :)
Yes, Feslavit had to go. Once he started being too prominent I planned his death. Actually, it was going to be quite different and have Vaysh go to Iceland with his ashes, and then I thought, "Maybe next time." I've really struggled with Vaysh in general because #1- we have only Pell's POV, and his filters, after all, canonically (and he's totally biased!), and #2- I wanted to show him being not so icy in those first couple of years, but that he's truly a changed being after being brought back and the aruna with Thiede. More elaborating those changes in the next post! ♥
