:cringe: Well, here was my thought on that: if Vaysh had 5 years of being in the cold place with Feslavit being there as a nurturing presence, he wouldn't be as closed-off as he seems to be, so, unfortunately, he couldn't stay. But also, in real life, accidents happen, y'know? Still, I did feel badly for him.
Since I was approaching this from Vaysh's POV, I, too, had a dislike for Phade, but thank you for the comments. I've been having great fun planning some of these interludes with Vaysh on his way back up north so that I could have more interesting interludes once I'm totally interwoven in canon— which starts next post. Egads!

You remain the only author to get me to think sympathetically about Thiede, and it's your influence alone which made Velaxis such a prominent character in this sequel. ((hugs))
