I can't tell you how glad I am to have had you along as a reader!! I'm pleased you found it intelligent, and thought-provoking, true to canon, and still evocative. That means the world to me.
Ashmael and Vaysh are so tragic, each in their own way; certainly the message from The Author in this sense seems to be: love at your own risk, because there's a very good chance it'll be taken away from you, or something else equally horrific will happen. In fact, now that I think about it, there are no happily ever afters. For anyone. Even couples who seem eventually to be well settled and love each other with equality end up suffering all sorts of other things— now thinking of Ulaume and Flick, their son, and his chesnari, Swift and Seel's son, who, when we last see them, may not even survive. What a devastating lesson. I'll have to see if I do write a third story about Ash and Vaysh and if so, whose POV will it be (hopefully a third party), and will they get together again?? (((hugs you))) I remain so grateful that this story introduced me to you. What an amazing gift, and I'm just thrilled that you enjoyed it so.
