What makes me always sad in this is, that Ash never tried to fight his inner fears and tried to be with him again.
That's what I remember, too, but I'm going to need to re-read parts of the second trilogy to see if they never even glance at each other, or if they conceivably could get together later on.
And yes, thank you for your thoughts!! I still think that once Ashmael realizes that Thiede re-created Vaysh after he died and Thiede made him barren (and didn't apologize!!) and Thiede never bothered to tell him (Ash) that he'd re-created his chesnari, that Ashmael might just want to go swing a machete at the Aghama, y'know?? And yet, instead, canonically he keeps serving Thiede and gives Vaysh the cold shoulder, as though he requested Thiede to do all of these awful things to him. It's going to be rough to write, because I just can't understand Ashmael's thinking. Thank you again for your perspective, that helps!
