I found a boo-boo! Wee! (such is a rare thing... I never find mistakes because my brain just glosses over that sort of thing when reading). But anyway... *meekly* You spelled amethyst wrong, right in the second part, describing Celebrimbor.
Okay, that aside.
HOLY COW THIS IS AWESOME AND IT'S ALL THE FAULT OF CAPS LOCK! Sorry. Seriously, girl. Everything you do with the dwarves and the elves is like gold--your smithing does honor to theirs. There's such a richness to it. It's like walking into a potions shop whenever I read something you write. I love the way your characters always seem to be in the middle of some discussion of craft. It makes me want to hang out with them, you know (especially in this story--but really in everything you write).
I mean, without sounding too much like one who has fallen prostrate, you are amazing. The attention to detail, the depth of description--gah!
Narvi shuddered against the nipping winds as she opened her cape to show that her hand rested on her axe, then bowed to the gatekeepers. <--- this kicks my ass, and you should be weighed down with medals for coming up with such an deft gesture.
You know what I think? I think you're like the method actor of fanfiction. See, I can write the pearls. And they're damn fine little pearls. But you can write the necklace, and I hope you never stop. =)
