thrihyrne: Portland, OR (knitting cable lover by me)
[livejournal.com profile] evannichols knows that I'm making a scarf for him, so this won't spoil the surprise— well, except that now he can see sort of what it will look like. ;) Still, I wanted to show my current project (the cardigan is finished; I'll ask Julia to take a couple of pictures of me in it and I'll post them) which is my first foray into the world of double-knitting in which your item/garment is two-sided, completely reversible, and thus double thickness. And odd to set up and at first, a challenge (for me) to wrap my head around when reading the pattern. But it's good now!

The colors are slightly off; the darker blue is a lovely cerulean and the lighter, a robin's egg blue. Evan is allergic to wool so this is also my first time making a scarf with yarn that is a cotton/microfiber mix.

Looking forward to my 3-day weekend, especially since now I'm the recipient of paid holidays! I'm more looking forward to the following weekend when Jen will come and stay over New Year's while Julia is in southern California visiting her family. I've arranged for massages for Jen and myself on Monday the 2nd. Great way to start off the new year!

Not only did I get to leave at 2:30 because all of the sales agents left early, but when I got in this morning I found a holiday card at my desk with a fun, yarn-centric $2 Oregon lottery ticket in it of all things. The card wasn't from my supervisor, as I'd first supposed, but someone else whose title I'm not at all certain of, but who has been quite friendly. (I should note that it appears that she gave all of us in the CSR department these cards, with the lottery tickets, but it doesn't make the gesture less appreciated.) It was the inside that really made me feel so positive about my decision to work there. She wrote: I am so glad you decided to join the VelaPoint team. We love having you here. Merry Christmas. :D Not only that, but she spelled my name correctly! This is no small feat considering that my name everywhere built into the lists is as my legal name, Kristen, and there are many ways to spell Kristi.

So now I'm settling in to watch part 3 of a fabulous BBC documentary about the history of Beijing and then other stuff I've downloaded, and knitting. I sense a lot of my next few days will resemble that, lol.
