thrihyrne: Portland, OR (Default)

I'm home from our many hours of driving and Thanksgiving visit with inlaws and all-too-brief visit with my mom and stepdad at their new place. I'm so very glad to be home safely, and I'm also thrilled to bits to announce that I have fic! Who would have thought that retreating to a room and having to wear headphones to somehow cancel out the too-loud TV in the living room and the tv on in the next room would allow me to finish the twinfic?!

Yes, you read that right. Done. I'm going to reread it tonight and send it to the darling [livejournal.com profile] llembas for a beta (unless somebody else wants to beta it?). It clocks in at 35,131 words; it's 75 pages in 9 pt. verdana and I adore it. What great fun the twins are. I hope that the other folks at weasleyworship and wherever else I archive it enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

And who would've thought that finally, finally, I made more progress on "Never Break the Chain," though it now has a new title: a lovely one thanks to W. H. Auden: "Till Shadowed Days Are Done." I just couldn't figure out what chain would be unbroken, though the inspiration for the story still comes from the song by Fleetwood Mac. So [livejournal.com profile] eldritchhobbit (and the few others on that flist), I'll post the new stuff tonight. It's still not done, but I'm getting there. Guess I'll need a beta for that one too. [livejournal.com profile] cim_halfling has volunteered and I just haven't had anything finished besides the H/D for [livejournal.com profile] snottygrrl, and since it was written for her, I was thrilled that she beta'ed it as well. Must say it was a bit surreal to be able to write what I did (there's a bit of a hot and heavy scene) in the car with my stepkids in the back seat hooked up to their CD players. But hey. I'd already been knitting for a good hour, and was figuring out what would happen next, and my purple legal paper was right there, and I had another 5 hours in the car!

I have tomorrow off. This makes me inordinately happy. I'll take my stepson to school, then LJ to my heart's content, maybe even read some fic (recommendations, anyone?), take the recycling, finish the letter to [livejournal.com profile] fungus_files, print up a few of my stories that I realized I don't have in hard copy at home since my stepdaughter has shown interest in "Together, Alone" and has agreed to read "Countdown," and then I get to spend the night out at Opryland. I'm going to soak in their hot tub (I assume they have one; I assume they have a pool- guess I'll doublecheck when I confirm my reservation), and color my hair, and read or write. Maybe finally take the time to reread [livejournal.com profile] miraminx's "Redeeming Time." Or maybe I'll just lie around and watch cable. And enjoy the quiet, alone time.

I'll check in again tomorrow morning. Those of you who also a) were involved with the Thanksgiving holiday and b) travelled, I hope you are all back safely as well.
