I referenced a paper that was published in Refractory: a Journal of Entertainment Media, when I wrote "Under the Waterfall." I noticed that they were going to have a special edition dealing with fandom, so I sent them my paper, tho' it was just barely under deadline, and seeing as how this is peer-reviewed and all I have is a B.A. and my own obsession with writing quasi-academic papers on fanfiction for fun, I didn't expect anything.

Well, my friends, I got an email from them this morning. Apparently my paper, while not in the special edition, has somehow, by some act of grace, been included in their most recent volume. I had no idea.

Here's the summary of the journal from their website:

Refractory: a Journal of Entertainment Media is a quarterly, refereed, peer-reviewed, e-journal that explores the diverging and intersecting aspects of current and past entertainment media.

The journal is published by the Cinema Studies Program, School of Art History, Cinema, Classics and Archaeology, University of Melbourne.

Link to the paper in their journal is here (don't even have the time to look at it as I should be finishing packing and going to the bloody airport).

Now if only they'll pay my way for me to come and present it at some conference they might host in the next year or two.
