England trip, real life and tarot

It occurred to me that I have several folks on my flist who live in England and you might be interested in coming to hear one of the services or concerts I'll be singing in during the week-long tour. I'd love for you to come and also to introduce yourself to me!! I think everyone on my flist knows what I look like; if not, email me and I'll send a pic off-list. Here's the singing itinerary: Ooops. I just realized that while I have the dates and locations, I don't have the times of day. I'll get that from my choir director tonight and post it tomorrow. But here's the dates and locations:
Thursday, June 24th— Lunchtime Concert in Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral
Saturday, June 26th— Concert in Durham Cathedral – 2:00pm (okay; I have one time)
Monday, June 28th— Rehearsal and Evensong in York Minster
Tuesday, June 29th— Concert or service in Bradford Cathedral

For those who aren't as familiar with where those are, my mom made a handy slide showing where we're singing (and where they're going afterwards) for my maternal grandmother, so I'll share here:

I had lunch with the director of the Furious Flower poetry center yesterday; we do this every two weeks to keep up with my progress and also just to enjoy chatting. She's so pleased with what I've done and has so often repeatedly said that she wants to keep me around as long as possible. Yesterday she said that if it would help, she'd find the money to hire me on part-time through the fall if it would sway me at all. This has, indeed, affected what I've been thinking. My mom feels it would be personally good for me to stay here through Christmas as I've had some bad holidays in the past. My knee-jerk reaction was, "No, and, um, hell no." If we lived in Richmond, or even Charlottesville, it would be an easier decision. It's that it's this small southern university town that makes my skin crawl. I've gone from when I could post every Friday with cool bumper stickers to seeing cars with rebel flag tire covers. It's challenging to my psyche. But adding all of this consulting work and video editing work to my resume and skill set is, indeed, compelling. Living rent free is also a bonus. Helping out my parents also plays a part, because I am a positive force here in their house. But… I miss the northwest tremendously. OTOH, I'm also thinking of applying for this program with a combined MLIS/MA in computing at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, and the deadline is in February. I could definitely move back out west after Christmas once I have a job and/or consulting gigs lined up. I don't want to move without something lined up as it's only too easy for me to enjoy acting as though I'm retired and just write and knit and be a hermit and… sometimes get self-destructive. I might not in the future given the meds I'm on.

ANYWAY. So I did a four airts spread this morning, focusing on what the overarching influences would be on me if I stayed here. So here's what I got with my deck, from north, east, south, west, and center (the overarching influence over all of them): The Wild Hunt .:~:. The Oak King .:~:. The Summer Queen .:~:. The Wondrous Head .:~:. The Ivy Bush
I realize without looking at my deck this is probably useless. If anyone's curious, well, there aren't any pictures. Phooey. Well, it's The Celtic Oracle with illustrations by Nigel Jackson and the text by Nigel Pennick. They're quite lovely.

Oh, if you have time you MUST explore the crypt at York Minster. Probably the best I've ever seen. Have a great trip!

Interesting, all of this! You DO realize of course, that programme is at the University my daughter is currently attending? (Well, OK, not in summer...)

Y'know, I think I'd had it in my head that that was where she was… wouldn't it be wild if I were starting a master's program when she began her junior year? We could hang out in Edmonton!! :D

((((massive hugs back)))

Indeed, that would be awesome --- except she may be studying abroad her junior year! She is planning germany and italy (oh, Italia, my heart yearns to go back). But ya never know how these things work out....

Oh, you're singing in Durham Cathedral! Brilliant!

Have a fantastic trip!

I didn't know you'd lived in Durham! Are there any particular places you'd recommend visiting, either as a tourist or to eat or look at books? Thanks for the well wishes!
