Jogging, adventures, and happening upon a sage
It's not even noon and I've been having a fabulous morning! So!
I got up at 5:25 and had my daily early a.m. conversation with
evannichols, then had tea, some online time, and went out for a jog at 7 o'clock. I managed to beat the rain, see 1/3 of a rainbow, and have already started returning to my usual pace. I jogged four blocks longer than yesterday and arrived home three minutes earlier. This is what tends to happen. I'm not running, by any means, and I intend to increase my distance incrementally. After I showered and did laundry, I confirmed an interview for a position I'm quite interested in (yay!), applied for a few more places, and then set out for my SE Portland Adventure. I had an indecent amount of fun on one 2-zone bus ticket. Okay, maybe not indecent. But I went to a store which apparently is a Portland institution, a place called Hippo Hardware. This is part of a Super Secret wee giftie I'm putting together for a certain someone, so no details as said person does read this journal. ;) I asked for some assistance from a friendly-looking guy in his 60s, probably, and we chatted a bit before he led me to the part of the store I needed. After I'd found just what I wanted and bought it, I showed it to him and thanked him, telling him he'd made my day. He beamed at me and said, "Life— this is your party. I'm just here to help you celebrate."
One never knows when one will unexpectedly come across someone who has wise words to share. :)
Tonight,
evannichols is picking me up at 6:30 for some kind of surprise that involves dressing up a bit but doesn't involve food. So exciting!!
