Earthquake rumbles

Normally I never post this often in a day, but an LJ friend asked about this earthquake whose origin was about an hour or so away from me to the SE. I was here at the house on the computer when the house shook for 30 seconds or so and I did have a bit of a freak out at the time, but when I went downstairs to ask my stepdad if he'd noticed that major rumbling (at first I thought maybe our large attic fan had dislodged out of the window or something) and he said he hadn't noticed anything. But it must have been this earthquake. I've been in a couple of tornadoes, but this was new! The 'burg seems to be just fine, though; I was just at the downtown library and we seem not to have suffered much damage. Doubtless it will be the news topic for tomorrow's paper, though.

No damage here! And hopefully no aftershocks, either. Thank you for the well wishes!!

Glad you're good! I've only really felt an earthquake once; they're kinda freaky.

This was very, very strange- all the more so because my stepdad was painting on the sunroom downstairs and he didn't feel anything. So I thought I'd imagined it!!

Well, ahem, you'd feel it more on the second floor than the first. But I am sure you knew that...I took CERT training because I did not want to be That Woman Who Dropped Dead of a Heartattack because of one. After the 94 quake, I am skittish.

Glad you are all ok! *HUGS*

Actually, I know nearly nothing about earthquakes, having not lived in an earthquake zone. It was truly odd, though!! I thought that maybe this massive metal window fan we have in the attic had managed to dislodge from its base. But when my stepdad hadn't noticed anything, I put it out of my head.

Quite odd! Great to talk with you on Saturday, albeit briefly. Have fun this weekend- we'll have a proper chat in a couple of weeks, okay? ♥

Ummm, but you DID live in earthquake country, and if you move west, you will be moving BACK to earthquake country...Portland is definitely earthquake country. Of course, not all of the west coast is as gifted with the quantity of earthquakes like Cali -- but you should know and be prepared.

I enjoyed our conversation too! Was thinking about you this morning... (((((HUGS)))))
