Work post, and bliss of a weekend alone

This may not be as long as it might as the sore throat I had earlier this week faded away, then went up into my nose, and now I believe I have a bona fide cold. Phooey.

I do customer care for institutions, post-sales. That means that I put in orders into our monstrous database, plus update our internal database used by the sales reps, for institutional sales of our language learning products. It's not just the actual CDs, though; we also create online language learning centers (which can take a tremendous amount of time depending on how many languages they're purchasing), online-access subscriptions, and the usual follow-up for questions about these orders. Institutions can be anything: libraries, governmental institutions, school districts, home schools, companies... and I by myself am responsible for our global retail, including major online vendors. When I left Friday night at 8:30, there were 69 orders/faxes/email requests in our queue, but I just couldn't stay any longer. It's very exciting and I have to multi-task all the time, because in addition to actually executing these orders and the follow-up and investigating invoices and talking with accounting, I also take phone calls while I'm there from people in real time who are having issues with their purchases, or they've lost their user name and password to their online subscription or language center... it's a lot, LOT to do. Which is a great thing for me. I'll never be bored, that's for sure, and the learning curve of getting to know the sometimes counter-intuitive programs that I use every day has been quite high. But it's a great company that's absolutely exploding with its success, so I'm really glad that I'm there. My coworkers are helpful and amiable people, and the whole atmosphere is one of pressure, but it's driven by how well things are going.

I do have a cold and feel kind of like crap, but in spite of that, it's been a great weekend having the house to myself while my parents are in North Carolina for a wedding.

[livejournal.com profile] risiepookie, I'm sorry I didn't call last night, but I was on the phone for four hours with [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins, by which point [livejournal.com profile] koshweasley had come home from work, so I talked with him for an additional 45 minutes. But— your Dean/Ron fic is finished, and I just adore it. I hope that you will, too. In fact, I got all sniffly this morning as I wrote the last scene. I'll be sending it to my betas today.

I also wrote a quadruple drabble yesterday morning, attempting to get caught up with the prompts at [livejournal.com profile] rondracodrabble. So I took the four I hadn't done and combined them all into an exactly 400-word drabblette, here. Like nearly all of my R/D drabbles, it's in the Magic Immunity universe.

Now I'm going to have a little breakfast, take a hot soak in the bath, and then curl up on the couch to watch "The History Boys" which [livejournal.com profile] wolfiekins and [livejournal.com profile] koshweasley were so kind to mail to me. I'm also enjoying the cold weather and rain, with bonus thunder tossed in!

Thinking of you all and hoping that you're well. :)

Wow, it sounds like you've got a lot of fic writing done. Wish I could say that I've been that productive. *g* And your work is simply fascinating--I'm always happy to read more about it.

Sorry to hear about the cold. :-S Hope it gets better soon.

Whoosh, sounds like you're tremendously busy! I'm glad you're enjoying the new job so far and that it's interesting as well as perhaps a bit overwhelming.

Happy fic-writing and hope that the cold doesn't get bad!

The 400 drabblette: *gg* In Germany, they say, "zwei Idioten, ein Gedanke," which basically means, two fools, one idea, because I was about to do the same thing in order to catch up, but you beat me to it. =)

I'm happy to see you shining. You make things brighter.

::kisses my dear::

I do hope you start to feel better soon- Lord knows I can commiserate with you about being sick!

Sounds like work is very busy, which is definitely a good thing to keep you occupied. I'm just bummed we're gonna play phone tag for a while. No matter though, because it's the though that counts and I think we both know we're in the other's thoughts. :o)

I'm so excited for my Dean/Ron fic being done! I'm sure I'll squee and giggle and fall to the floor with happiness once it gets posted, so that's definitely something to look forward to!

I've had an incredible busy week and weekend as well and need to go get lots done before it starts all over again tomorrow. ::facepalm::

Love you tons, hon, and hope you have a wonderful week! ♥♥♥
