Fanmail

I picked up my stepkids from their daycamp today and once we were home, I asked them to take the office recycling out of the back of the Subaru and put it in our bin which is to be picked up tomorrow. Included with the office paper were two boxes of nice envelopes. Emma said, “Look, Kristi! It’s fan mail for your stories!” “Ha, ha,” I replied, and went inside to change clothes and then go mow the front yard, since I had promised to Mr. Thev that I would do so if it weren’t raining.

An hour and some later, I came inside, sweaty and whatnot, and Sam took me by the hand to guide me to the dining room table. “Look!” he said. “We told you you had fanmail!”

Eight of the envelopes had been saved with letters in each of them (I must interject here and admit that neither Emma nor Sam have actually read any of my fanfiction, though I’ve enticed Emma with the twinfic, and she said she’d read it when it was done.), all addressed to me. I won’t quote them all, but the variety of authors was rather hilarious:

Dear Kristi.

I love your work. It is so inspiraring. Sorry for the misspelling. I spend so much time acting.

From

Billy Boyd

(I love that one especially since I don’t think I’ve written anything with Pippin in it except very peripherally. I think it’s that Sam knows that I love it when Pippin sings during RotK the movie.)

Kristi,

This is really great stuff and true to the book too! Keep up the great work. You have a lot of promise.

Sincerely,

J.K. Rowling

Kristi,

Thanks for writing all those stories that provide us with endless hours of pleasure and entertainment! We agree with you, Fred and George should get more recognition.

Sincerely,

“Fred and George Weasley”

Dear Kirsti, [sic]

Your work is great. I love it. I think you should write a book. Please sign and send back.

X________________

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Daniel Radcliff

Dear Kristi,

I would just like to say how much I enjoy your stories. I’ve read all the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter books and think your stories are excellent. Keep coming up with the great stuff!

Sincerely,

Ellen DeGeneres

I was rendered speechless, though I did bestow many kisses on said progeny-by-love.

I wonder what will happen if they ever actually read any of my stuff. Hard to say.

That is the most adorable feedback story I've ever heard!

That's absolutely wonderful. What creative, fun kids! I especially like the fact that "Ellen DeGeneres" wrote you a letter, and that Daniel Radcliffe wants your autograph.

They sound like wonderful, thoughtful kids. That speaks well for all of the adults who've been involved in their upbringing - which includes your dear self.

*btw, I owe you a letter myself. I meant to pop off a quick e-mail to let you know yours arrived okay, itinerary and all.* :-)

Looks like your crew came hardwired pretty special too! What a great story. Thanks for sharing. That really made my day. Hope they actually read it at some point and realize how right on they are!

I agree, though, the adults in these kid's lives are doing something right! :)
