::tag:: I've been meme-tagged!

Edit: Evidently I can't count. I only put up 5 habits/quirks/facts. :sigh:

Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] maple_mahogany:
Here are the rules:
1. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
2. Tag seven people to do the same.
3. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.

I'm not tagging anyone, but if you'd like to play, feel free!

1. I only write in purple, pink or aqua ink (and other colors, but not blue, black or red. BORING.)
2. I get nervous flying, and in recent years, perhaps to channel my inner stalwartness (dwarf!), I travel with a picture of Gimli in my wallet.
3. I've always wanted to be left-handed. Instead, my favorite characters in my fanfic tend to be left-handed.
4. The only band I've seen twice is the Hoodoo Gurus. I'm pretty sure I saw them twice. I'm not much of a live music person, however. If you count classical, however, I've seen Philip Glass (with and without his ensemble) 5 times.
5. I have an uncanny and incomprehensible (because it's such a waste of brain space!) ability to document nearly every piece of clothing/shoes/earrings/socks/underwear that I own, can tell you where I bought it or (more likely) who gave it to me and when, and sometimes what I paid for it.

::nods to your #1:: Your ink always makes the prettiest cards!
::nods more to your #3:: I'm actually ambidexterous, but I always wanted to be left-handed.

What happened to 6 and 7? :o)

Thanks for sharing these- some fun quirks!

I'm a doofus! I forgot about 6 & 7, lololol.

Ambidextrous, eh? That's quite a skill! I do vacuum with my left hand...

Hmmmmm, perhaps it's the purple that makes your writing...difficult to read:D LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist. I guess it's a good thing you live 3oo miles away. You can't smack me.

I just think it is great that you travel with a pic of Gimli.

[identity profile] thrihyrne.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, consider yourself lucky I can't thwap you. :)

I do travel with Gimli! It just wouldn't feel right not having him around. Hope you're doing well!

And no, no color would improve my handwriting. I just need not to rush through it and it's more legible than you might think. ;)

i'll just hang around here waiting for numbers 6 and 7, ok? *whistles*

(btw no. 4? i'm seriously impressed. i AM a live music person and i love hoodoo gurus and i've NEVER seen them live!)

and 5. yeah. not so much clothes but books. also wedding presents. i can still remember who gave me which odd/useless/not my taste item. it drives my husband mental because with the same brain i can forget to pay the electricity bill....

Um... had a small counting issue last night. We'll just leave it at five. :)

I wondered if you'd catch the Hoodoo Gurus bit! And the shocking thing? I saw them in the States twice! One of my greatest regrets is being prohibited from seeing INXS while living in Brisbane. The concert was during one of our sets of exams, and the family I was living with said I couldn't go. I was soooooo upset for a long time. :(

Interestingly, I did the same with wedding gifts, when the time came to split them up. I was a bit shocked at how readily I remembered some items and exactly who they'd come from and whether (to my mind) it would be more appropriate for me or him to have the item in question. I've never had a problem with bill-paying, though.

Hmmmmm, the only band i've seen more than twice was back in the early 80's and it was a psuedo-grunge big-haired almost metal wanna be group called "Toys" They were SOOOOO Cute and my friend Bo was their sound-guy, manager, light guy, equipment mover grunt.

Turned out that out of make up and costumes, they were all pretty darn normal. Except one guy, who made clothese for some of the hookers in Dallas, LOL.

Don't know why I suddenly thought of them.

Argh, make that late 70's, since I moved away from Texas in '79. *rolls eyes at memory loss*

[identity profile] thrihyrne.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't many rock-star-ish people fairly normal a lot of the time? I suspect a lot aren't; too much pressure and whatnot, but perhaps many are normal folks like us. Thanks for sharing that bit of cim trivia!! :D

And I continue to adore your autumnal icons. :happy sigh:

Five, seven, eh! *g*

They're only numbers, right??!

Thanks for the link! I'd love some new R/D, despite being so enmeshed in my own. I appreciate it!!

re: 5--I have a pretty similar memory in regards to stuff like that! ;p

I *love* live music [rock concerts in particular, but also local bands at restaurants]. I've seen quite a few bands more than once, but the biggest ones would be U2, Rolling Stones [twice each for them], The Other Ones and The Dead [for the most part, both of these are The Grateful Dead w/o Jerry], Phil & Friends [Phil Lesh, bassist from the Dead, with whoever he wants to play with that tour].
Also, Oingo Boingo, Depeche Mode, Phish, Hot Tuna, The Flying Other Brothers, Les Claypool [alternately with Primus, Oysterhead, and the Flying Frog Brigade].
Local bands: The Shitones [instrumental surf rock, made of the Mermen with another drummer], Diego's Umbrella [Spanish surf rock], Giamunguous [now defunct reggae dance jams], ...I'm sure there's more, but. That's a healthy list, lol. ;D

You're back!! Yay!!

Wow— you really are into live music. I have certainly enjoyed some, but I do remember going to one Bruce Cockburn concert and feeling as though he was yelling at me and my way of living personally, which really turned me off. The next time I saw him he wasn't nearly as angry and I had earplugs, and all was well. :D

[identity profile] verdenia.livejournal.com 2007-09-25 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! *twirls* *hugs*

Hee, yeah, I ♥ live music like whoa. ;p

I'm not sure if I'd really heard of Cockburn before, but I can see how a 'messsage' artist could make you feel really uncomfortable--heck, I've felt that way myself. Michael Franti & Spearhead can be a bit...heavy [although I recognize that they're doing important work, sometimes all activism all the time can be wearing]. I still ♥ their song "All the Freaky people make the beauty of the world". ;D "you can bomb the world to pieces, but you can't bomb it into peace" is pretty good too. ;p

& yes, earplugs are sometimes *very* necessary!

Now that I've skimmed Cockburn's wiki page, I'll have to listen to Rattle & Hum again. I like that movie quite alot. ;D
